To be honest I would get it a shot. Might be better for this team right now cause if Hiller loses this game then we got no one else to turn to and thats not good for the next 10 games we have. Maybe it'll light a fire under Hiller if Pogge wins 2-3 games in a row and creates some more competition. Plus if we lose it won't hit the team as hard haha
The Ducks don't have an AHL affiliate this season.
Doesn't mean he couldn't have been placed on another AHL team, as the Stars did last year and I'm sure the Ducks have done this season with their other minor-leaguers.
Or maybe you feel it's different for goalies somehow because they need to stay within the organization?

yeah, I thought the Ducks didn't have an affiliate but I found it weird they didn't find a team to lend him to. I guess it may be a lot harder to do that with Goaltenders since each team only carries 2 or 3 the maximum, but Pogge is supposed to be a good prospect.
I would think it's detrimental to his development, at least a little bit, that he's playing against ECHL talent and not AHL talent.

From what I read the Ducks couldn't find a team willing to take on their goaltenders, which is why Pogge and Pielmeier are in Bakersfield and Levasseur is in the deep south somewhere (I forget exactly.) Actually, I think one of Pogge or Pielmeier were sent down from San Antonio, so in a way they're still in the system there, just stuck behind Phoenix's two goalies.
While the level of talent is lower in the ECHL, Bakersfield isn't that far away from Anaheim, so if we need a goalie, we can easily call one in relatively quickly. Sort of a double edged sword, I suppose.

It's more that every other team has their own goalie prospects that they need to develop.

McNab (the ducks assistant GM) implied no one would take him and said that they'd have to wait until there was an injury to another goalie to get him playing time in the AHL.
