Looked at the score card and there is 5 minute major for boarding by Nicolas Blanchard (a hurricane prospect), who was then fought immediately by Lashoff who got 2 minutes for instigating, 5 more for fighting and then 10 more for a misconduct.

Hate to point out the irony in such an injury but Smaby gets sent to Norfolk on a 14-day "conditioning assignment" while not injured and, in the process, gets injured.

He took out one of our guys, and before he could react Blanchard retaliated and smacked him - no question it was a dirty hit really and Blanch will probably get a suspension for it.

Don't know if you saw my update on Smaby in today's post but here's exactly what I wrote:

Defenseman Matt Smaby, the recipient of a questionable hit from behind from Albany’s Nicolas Blanchard on Wednesday night, is officially listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Smaby left the game and did not return.

Unofficially, a source with the parent Lightning relayed, “He is fine”.
