L'époque des héros

http://www.radio-canada.ca/emissions...dTribune=92647

Want to learn what the story of Les Canadiens is from the mouths of the people who built it?

Want to understand how this hockey club is linked to a whole Nation?

I invite everyone to listen to this documentary that will be aired every morning at 10am, nights at 9pm, and available through streaming on radio-canada.ca starting next week.

You could start listening to some passages right now. I heard an interview this morning. There will be new infos in that documentary. One of them being how Ronald Corey fired Serge Savard.

I just listenned to the second part of this documentary. Talks about the Wanderers... then Les Canadiens, and how some guy though it would be great for the anglos to have their team (the marroons). You can hear Joliat speak about Morenz, etc.

Just Amazing!

It's on Radio-Canada (95.1 in Montreal) from 10am to 11am, and from 9pm ot 10pm.

... and you can listen to it anytime on the net: http://www.radio-canada.ca/emissions...0/speciale.asp

You think you know your history, and then you listen to documentaries like this one. Even I learned new things.

I didn't know for instance that players were not allowed to pass the puck in front of them... just like for passes in football after the ball as pass the starting line. So players had to skate with the puck and could only pass it behind them.

It was basically rugby on skates before they allowed the forward pass.

Was that before or after they gave the players the permission to do right turns on the ice on uneven numbered days..?

Looks like it. And that's why fast skaters like Howie Morenz were so good: there was a bias toward players who could skate. There was no obstruction at the time, so smaller players who were fast could be highly productive.

Thank you for the link. One of the better uses that my tax money has been put to in recent years.

Have never heard Toe Blake speaking in French, Roger Beaulieu speaking English or Tommy Gorman speak at all before.

Interesting to hear Richard in interviews - some of his answers really sound as if he's reading a script

Looking forward to the rest of the series

Anyone knows if they'll make this a podcast or at least downloadable?

Radio-Canada usually produces a box set with several CDs for documentaries like this one. I guess they will do it again because there are no podcast available.

... but you can listen to it by streaming, which is fair enough IMO.

Expect it to be available at La boutique Radio-Canada before Christmas.
