8 to Springfield

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=edm-home-dl

Quote:
The Edmonton Oilers assigned eight players today (four defencemen and four forwards), leaving their training camp roster at 34 players.

Assigned to Springfield (AHL): Ryan O'Marra (RW), Alex Plante (D), Jake Taylor (D) and Bryan Young (D)

Assigned to Saskatoon (WHL): Milan Kytnar (C)

Placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment: Dean Arsene (D), Ryan Potulny (C) and Chris Minard (LW).

Not really any surprises.

Glad that Schremp and Brule will probably get chances until the very end of camp.

No suprises here, glad Jake Taylor is finally gone though. The next cuts should be interesting.

Although I'm a little bit suprised at no Taylor Chorney..

Anyone have a list of who is left and preferably their waiver eligibility?

I personally feel like Minard would have had a longer look, but I guess he didn't stand out enough throughout camp. I also have to feel for O'Mara, back when he was on a line with Cogliano during the WJC I had such high hopes for him.

I guess we wait and see waiver-wise. Potulny might be gone. Minard had a bad TC so maybe he'll be over-looked. Dean Arsene is where he needs to be - awaiting an injury related opportunity.

"3 scoring lines"

quinney said they could go with 3 scoring lines

i would take the top 9 scorers for the scoring lines keep eberle in the juniors and give nilsson a chance to prove his worth.

scoring 1--> penner horcoff hemsky
scoring 2--> comrie gagner o'sullivan
scoring 3--> schremp cogliano nilsson
plumbers--> moreau pisani stortini
PB----------> macintyre brule

what do you guys think the scoring lines will be?

Nilsson - Horcoff - Hemsky
Penner - Cogliano - Eberle
O'Sullivan - Gagner - Comrie
Moreau - Pisani - Stortini

If they truely are rolling with 3 scoring lines that's what i'd go with.

They can't pick these guys up and immediately put them on the farm team. If there was an opportunity to play in the NHL for any of them, trust me, Minard and Arsene would have taken that opportunity.

So I doubt at this stage any of them get picked up, with the exception of Schremp and Brule.

This roster needs to be trimmed down ASAP.

"You're cut!"

The last few games of the preseason should be spent practicing systems (PP, PK, SO) for the first 10 games of the season.

Practice going 7-2-1. PP and PK clicking. That's something to cheer about.

Might be more cuts coming prior to the game vs the Shames. Tencer tweeted saying there would be 12 cuts prior to Wednesday. There has to be another 4 cuts made as 8 cuts have been made.
