Why did you create this thread? Everyone that wants to bash can read the FAQ's thread...that's why it was started.

I edited the title, I think this might be entertaining.

Let's make it all negative articles about the team, from TSN.ca to TSN.com, from The Hockey News, to ESPN.

If the season works out the way some of us think, we can throw their words back in their faces at the end of the season.

Okay, I'll play...

Puck Daddy's Thrashers preview is basically a collection of one liners...

That moron Adam Proteau has the Thrashers finishing 14th in the East, without spending a single sentence talking about our team and how we managed to get worse this offseason(that is a Canadian media trend BTW)

http://thehockeynews.com/articles/27...edictions.html

This moron at THN has us listed as one of the worst fantasy hockey teams in the NHL, despite being in the Top 10 in offensive stats last year.

http://thehockeynews.com/articles/27...on-report.html

I am so fed up with the idiots at THN I deleted my THN IPhone ap.

WEEI in Boston thinks the B's should land Kovy at the deadline.

From the mastermind that offered up this brilliance; http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/...top50_players/

(Cam Ward, Pronger, and Daniel Sedin ahead of Lecavalier, Kovalchuck, and Lidstrom.....yeeeah, that should tell you all you need to know.)

He now offers up this gem on the SE division; http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/...east_division/

Apparently we're one step behind Phoenix from closing our doors and mercifully asking some Canadian city to take this abomination which is hockey off our poor dumb southern redneck hands.

Barry Melrose called us the worst team in the division, and that it would take a miracle to be in the playoff hunt on the ESPN SE Division podcast.

Scott Burnside of ESPN(Atlanta resident), said we were much improved but would still be last in the division as everyone else in the division got better.

I'd think as long as the Islanders are around we're safe from that "worst" distinction. We have improved but we were awfully bad last season. Pavelic is a question mark. Our 3rd pairing is a question mark. Our penalty kill is a question mark. Our captain making it through the entire season is a question mark. Be real kids. We are not the steadiest of franchises and those pundits that call for us to do something are stepping out on a limb. I'm sure your feelings get hurt when the big bad media calls us names but they have had every right to do so. With that said the media is the most fickle of all ladies and will fall in love with you after your first 5 game winning streak. You want respect? Earn it.

So you think that is an acceptable excuse for mutiple outlets simply not even bothering to preview the Thrashers team during their season previews, just taking pot shots at the teams ownership and viability in the market or talking about Ilya's contract?

That explains the "fickle" part of the comment. Everything in sports media is built around "what have you done for me lately".

While I completely agree that all the season previews for the Thrashers have been crap, it's all based on the fact that the Thrashers haven't won a thing in their 9 year history...why would they start now? If we somehow get off to a 8-2 start, all the sudden our off season moves were genius and we have a shot at the playoffs.

Sure, to a certain extent.

It's one thing to sit back in your cushy chair and churn out more filth than a water spout at a sewage treatment plant, but it's completely different to actually look at what the team accomplished in the offseason (you know, actual work. Gasp!) and write out an article that actually takes everything into account.

The media isn't so much fickle as it is lazy, anymore. A vast difference, to be sure. Seems that it takes a keen eye to recognize the difference, I suppose.

Truthfully? Yes. We're a footnote at this time. Would I like to see modern media regain their journalistic integrity and actually report news instead of pandering to the salacious and trendy? Do some homework instead of generating a sound byte? You bet. Do I think we'll ever get back there? Hells no.

Then what?

I guess that leaves me with fan sites where everyone overrates their own, perceives every negative comment as an attack, and goes on manic depressant roller coaster rides following every piece of news released. Or find some blogs that can offer subjective opinions on the Thrashers and NHL in general. And there is always like minded friends that you can talk with about the game.

Such is the life of the Thrasher fan. Getting worked up because some mullet thinks we stink? Not on my agenda especially since we've had what? one draft pick outside the top 10 in our history?

Burnside has us at #25 in his rankings, and says...

Quote:
The offense will be explosive, but goaltending might once again doom the Thrashers.
Can't say I can argue with that...

While I wouldn't bet on the Thrashers winning the cup this year, I think the probability of them competing for a playoff spot is quite good.

Eklund picks us dead last in the East, for the 4th season in a row.

SI has us dead last in the East as well.

Allen Muir has us trading Kovy and Kozlov at the deadline. Wonder if he knows about Kozlov's NMC?

Al Strachan just claimed some Toronto group is planning on buying the Thrashers and moving them to Winnipeg, no proof was provided for this claim.

Glen Healy took several shots at Atlanta as well.

The amount of hot air being generated there by those two could power a small city.
