So how many fans showed up for the first day of camp?

Atlanta boasted over 200 fans at the Thrashers facility on the first day of the NFL season with a Falcons home game, that's a pretty good turnout here.

How many fans welcomed your team onto the ice for day 1 of camp?

Reports I've read from Flyers camp peg it at 1700-2000 fans.

So then,,,,what if I tell you it was snowing 18 inches in Atlanta and the 200 walked to the facility???? At least it was huge compared to past interest here!

There were about 500-700 of us at Oilers camp today. I will never understand why so few people show up to camp. There is a season tickets waiting list, you need to win a lottery to have the right to buy a mini pack yet hardly anybody shows up for free to see training camp.

Weird.

ya, the facility in Atlanta is just a public rink with 2 sheets of ice and very little seating or parking. Everyone just kind of stands around the glass. But the players are great after the skate, they stop to give autographs and take pictures right as they come off the ice. Kovy signs just about anything for several minutes until everyone is satisfied before he heads for the locker room. The rookies have to gather up the practice pucks and they hang around and talk to anyone that will listen to them! Quite a fun experience!!

NHL practice here is probably more like juniors hockey up north -- fans have total access to players -- so I was just curious how other cities handle it.

2,500 for the Wild. That is pretty good considering the Vikes started at noon.

It is open tomorrow as well but I don't expect that many.

About 1000 at Anaheim ice from what I've read. Pretty much full, people had to stand around the glass behind the nets, since it was so full.

Is that what they reported? It looked about a quarter filled to me, which would be about 4,500ish, and that was a rough estimate, so 3,000 may be right.

as is the case with the Devils not opening practice to the public anymore. it used to be open (minus playoffs) when they had a public practice rink.

anyhow, the Devils did have a couple hundred for a last-minute-notice Prospects Game in July. i personally found out less than 24 hours before.
