Poll : The best journalists/analysts around the Habs
Since we are talking very often about the work of journalists and analysts that are covering the Habs, I thought it would be a good idea to see it more positively, by building a ranking of the best of them. Of course, it's gonna be less positive for those at the bottom of the list...
I decided to limit the choices to the French medias and to Montreal based journalists. Also, any analyst, commentator, journalist, columnist, etc. can be included in the poll.
So who are the best of them?
Potential add (tell me if I forget any) :
François Gagnon, Bertrand Raymond, Guy D'Aoust, René Pothier, Pierre Houde, Benoît Brunet, Jacques Demers, Michel Bergeron, Réjean Tremblay, Michel Villeneuve, Luc Gélinas, Alain "Le Baron" Chantelois, Jean Pagé, Paul Rivard, Jean Perron, J-C Lajoie, Richard Labbé, Dave Morissette, Pierre Durocher, Michel Beaudry, Martin Lemay, Ron Fournier, Stéphan Lebeau, Marc Bureau, Éric Hoziel, Pierre Rinfret, Gabriel Grégoire, Tony Marinaro, Gaston Therrien, Normand Flynn, Joël Bouchard, Alain Crête

And about John Lu, I decided not to add English journalists. First because I feel I don't know them enough. And second, because there's a majority of anglophones on the board, and it would naturally give them an advantage over French journalists. But it's true John Lu is pretty good.

Every post in this thread was by someone from Quebec until mine. Maybe you're underestimating the French population here.
(while he's saying this, there's strippers in the background setting off explosions, objects have been given life and can move, and bears are mauling astronauts. John Lu is just really extreme like that.)

You cannot compare reporters/journalists with analysts. It's like putting hunters and cooks on the same list and decide who is better. The hunter brings the meat and the cook will turn it into something edible. The criteria for evaluating them are not the same.
You should have two polls - one for journalists/reporters/information gatherers. You can evaluate them mostly by the quality and reliability of their info. I'd have MAG and maybe Renaud Lavoie on this one.
Then you have analysts that take the info and make some sense out of it - and my favourite french speaking analyst by far (though he's not really Montreal based - but he has a daily half hour radio segment) is Pat Burns.
Dany Dube for me ... He brings a level headed attitude, very bright and doesn't get his emotions get in the way of giving an intelligent, easy to understand opinion.
