Second Best Snap Shot In The NHL?

It's a given that Kovalchuk has the best snapper, but who has the 2nd best snapshot in the league?

From the options on this poll, I picked Hossa because his is very quick, but my real pick for, at least the second-best snap shot (not wrist shot), is Marian Gaborik because his snap shot release is quite deadly. Dany Heatley also has a great snap shot, along with Sidney Crosby.

Are we just talking about forwards? Because if not then I don't think Kovalchuk is a given for #1.

Yeah, I was referring to forwards only. And I can't believe nobody has said Malkin...

Semins takes a while for him to wind up, but give him space and time, and there really is no better

The best guy on there isn't listed. It's Marian Gaborik. His primary scoring shot isn't a wrister. It's a pure snap shot. Sakic would be in equal ground if he was still playing.

None of the players listed scream snap shot to me, and Kovalchuk is no given as #1. His dangerous shot is a one-timed slapshot. I see a lot of wristers and slappers on that list.

It's actually a snap shot most of the time if you look closely, and he uses the snapper instead of the wrister when he isn't being fed

By definition a one-timer cannot be a snap shot. Sometimes the windup is the same, but in a snapper the puck must first be at some sort of "rest" by the shooting player.

And I think overall people confuse a wrister with a snap shot. I bet that's the case with Semin. A snap shot is really not that common. I just watched dozens of Kovalchuk's goals just to confirm, and the wrist shot was the most common scoring shot I saw from him. But he's a versatile goal scorer, and he mixes in his share of snappers and slappers. His proportion of snap shots is definitely near the top of the league though. But I do not think of a snap shot when I think of Ilya. I think of that nasty one-timer and heavy wrister first.

I'd say every player on that list doesn't take enough snap shots for a good comparison.
