Would Kane have fallen in the draft if the Taxi thing happened before he was drated into the NHL and if so, how far? I was just thinking if this happened to JT or Duchene where they would have gone.

I honestly don't think so, especially since it was his first offense.

I think Chicago still would have taken him.

They took the chance on Beach and Aliu, I don't see why they wouldn't take the chance on Kane if they thought he had character issues.

I think he would have slipped. Wolski slipped for a fight at a party. While the Hawks took a chance on Beach and Aliu - there is less pressure to 'hit' with a 10th overall pick, or a second rounder. That's where talented guys with an issue slip to.

There was a lot of talk of there being no clear cut #1 before the 07 draft so this could have caused Kane to drop a bit (no chance of going out of the top-3 though) but as someone else has pointed out Chicago have taken fliers on talented guys who have off ice issues in Aliu and Beach.

no, because he is way more talented than anyone taken in that draft.

I am sure some teams would have dropped his value on their list. A lot of teams rely heavily on their interviews and players attitudes. Some don't.

Might help to see Turris and JVR play a few seasons (or at all) in the NHL before we say that.

Maybe, but who knows in the end...

There are still plenty of people that think Turris and JVR are the better players so who knows.

Depending on when it would have happened, it wouldn't have gotten as much press (unless it happened like, just before the draft). Maybe it would have dropped him a spot, but I doubt it.

Considering that it was more or less a toss-up pre-draft between the big 3 that year, it very well could have...
