The article just states that Erat and Legwand are locks, but the third man is up in the air...and they discuss who within the organization could potentially fill the spot. It's not really an op-ed, and Glennon typically isn't much for "inside info." I think they're saying that they are leaving the door open to trade\signing if need be, but their intention is to see if someone is going to grab the spot, first...which is reasonable.

*sigh* yet another thread for crying about our top 6 forward situation.
The article did not say anything new that I can see. Not sure where you got an indication that a trade may be in the works. The article says the Preds are hoping someone from within the organization will step up into the role. That is what is going to happen, and has been the plan for quite some time now.
There is nothing to address. It's done. Let camp begin and get excited about the great group of young forwards we already have, instead of complaining about how they aren't good enough. If all our forwards fail at the job, then we'll talk about bringing someone else in. But for now, let the season begin!
Sorry LL, I don't mean to pick on you but all this complaining is so tiresome.
Do you guys think this article may indicate something in the works possibly or just an article??
It's just an article. This is just a part of a series that the Tennessean is doing all week. Every day there is a preview of a different part of the Preds going into camp.
Sunday 8-30: Goalies
Monday8-31: Defense
Tuesday9-1: First line
Wednesday9-2: Second line
Thursday9-3: Third line
Friday9-4: Fourth line
Saturday9-5: Powerplay
Sunday9-6: Penalty Kill
It's just the same things we discuss here everyday.

Bingo, it is just the latest installment this week of pre-written articles to keep the Predators news coming as training camp approaches while Glennon is taking a week of vacation.
These articles will not have any new insight into them, nor will the Tennessean this week either. Heck, it took them till the next morning to throw up the little AP blurb about O'Reilly signing and they simply tacked it onto the Glennon preview of the day...
Heh heh. It works. I saw some of the recent articles, mainly this one, and thought "wow, the Tennessean is actually upgrading their Predators coverage!"
I was interested today by something I read from the Tennessean.
Trotz is talking about how much he like Belak and says, ""He's a pretty responsible player. He doesn't let things get all hairy and ragged out there like some of the guys we've had in the past.''
Who do you think he is talking about in that quote?
Not like it's a big acheivement. I mean, look at the list of tough guys we've had over our first 11 years:
Lambert
Cote
Grimson at the tail end of his career
Perrott
Simpson
Stevenson
McKenzie
Hordichuk
Belak
Plus, I think Wade having extensive experience as a defenseman, he has a better understanding of the game makes him a more complete player. True, he doesn't have much in the way of foot speed, and he doesn't score much, if ever, but he's a guy you can count on to be where he needs to be defensively, and not all over the place doing his best to give the other team a goal.
Belak can knock a mothereffer out. Big Mac was the same way but we got him on the tail end of his time and he wasn't nearly as effective. Hordy...as much as we the fans loved him probably fanned more fires than he put out...not to mention he wasn't the face crusher that Belak is.
There is a reason that Poile traded for him and if you look closely at the tenor of the games after he arrived there was a MAJOR difference from the beginning of the year. It was actually so bad just before the trade that the Poile almost signed Macker again.
The more time I've spent mulling over this idea that Poile is responsible for our lack of scoring forwards, the more confident I feel that Poile is just as frustrated as the rest of us. I sort of envision him as the kid in the toy section over at Wal*Mart (or Target, or wherever) who sees this really cool action figure, pulls it off the shelf, and runs back to his dad to show it to him. Dad takes a look at the prices, smacks him on the head, and tells him to put it back.

Bingo, Poile is very constricted by budgetary restrictions otherwise we would have signed at least two other players this summer (2nd line winger and veteran D). As of now, I really don't think we have much more than $1 million to offer to anyone...
Correct, I'm simply saying that we don't have more than $1 million extra to add to our total payroll. If we subtract someone, then we can add their salary savings to that number, but until then...
