Falcons sign Brennan

Not sure I like this move. A marginal AHL player taking a spot from the many prospects the Oilers have.

If a guy with this "skill set" (he's a goon) takes away any time from an Oilers prospect, then I think we should be more concerned about the prospect and not Brennan. He'll be a PB/4th line player, protection for our kids since we can't have all of our enforcer muscle coming from the back end in Nickerson.

Great post. This is exactly how I see it.

The Oilers have made a commitment to try and make the team in Springfield more competitive then it was the past two years. Signing a policeman like Brennan, coupled with several of the other AHL signings that have been made this summer just affirms that.

Also, I'm not too worried about Brennan taking six minutes a night out of the lineup from our more talented prospects. Something tells me he won't be getting top powerplay time in Springfield.

From what was witnessed last season there were far more suspects than prospects as finishing in 29th place in a 29 team league bears out. More vets were needed and Edmonton realized this.
