He's got a good coaching record and he's been our head scout, so he should know what our players are capable. In another thread we discussed Edmonton's problems as a team and how it's affected our ability to attract quality free agents back in some off-seasons and how some people have shifted the blame to the state of the city of Edmonton itself... If this guy is the right guy for the job this is defintely a step in the right direction.

Our AHL assistant coach, Gerry Fleming doesn't sound like a slouch, either.

Not to rain on the parade but many Minnesota Wild fans had extremely negative things to say about Rob Daum following the 2006-07 season. Daum coached their AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros, and the team struggled to a 27-43 record and many players underperformed big time.

On the flip side, much of the argument was based on the performance of Benoit Pouliot and he sure as heck didn't pick it up the next season under Constantine so who really knows.

I am quite pleased Daum is coaching our AHL team this year, a better fit than Bucky was IMO. BTW, Daum was never our head scout.

fixed for you.

He coached the last 25 games of the year last year. Does he still count as our new head coach?

Would rather have Daum up here on the main staff and have Bucky down in
Springfield.
