Ok, I started a similar thread and I see that Quebec City,Winnipeg,& Hamilton were all the obvious top destinations for future canadian franchises. Let's say the league was going to expand to a total of 12 canadien franchises. There's 6 already and Que,Win,& Ham were all awarded there teams so that leaves 3 teams/cities left. What are some of your guy's thought & opinion's on this matter. The 3 cities would be chosen on greater area/city population, size of the city, passion for hockey, etc. Let's just say that arena's weren't going to be an issue. Please vote in the poll on your 1st choice, and if you could please post a comment on what your top 3 destinations would be & why. Thanks!
London,Ontario
Kitchener,Ontario
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Oshawa, Ontario
Victoria, British Columbia
Windsor, Ontario
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Regina, Saskatchewan
Other (i tried to list all of cities I could)

Only becuase these places have higher metro populations, though I highly doubt they will grow large enough to support an nhl franchise anytime soon.
I would think only Halifax/Dartmouth has the potential for huge growth, Oil,Shipping and fisheries. It's a fabulous city that got screwed by the feds for many years.
Personally I see Halifax to have the largest boom of big cities in Canada in the next 10 or so years.
Being from Victoria, I can say with 110% certainty that there's no way this city could support an NHL team. We wouldn't even be able to get a big enough arena built (we just built new one a few years ago and it only holds 7000). The city only has a population of about 80,000 (350,000 metro). ECHL/WHL is one thing, MAYBE the AHL is viable here, but certainly not the NHL. Having a 'AA' farm team for the Canucks here is pretty much ideal, which we have.
Of the cities on your list, I voted Halifax (even though it's not that much bigger than Victoria, to be honest) simply because of a lack of hockey on the Atlantic coast (assuming Winnipeg has the prairies covered and Hamiltion has a second team in southern Ontario covered). I honestly don't think any of those cities listed there would ever be realistic options, though.

I'm suprised to read this. I figured that Victoria would be one of the more underated destinations for the NHL. Victoria,Saskatoon,or Regina which of these would be best?
Ok, so hypothetically if Hamilton was awarded a team that rules out London, Windsor, Kitchener and Oshawa from ever getting a team so cross them off the list.
What are there 32 or 33 million people in Canada? And you want 12 teams? If every Canadian citizen lived within 50 miles of mutually-exclusive metro areas this might be feasable, but unless you're willing to drop second franchises in Toronto and Montreal, then forcecfully relocate all of Saskatchewan and the northern territories, this whole thread is absurd.
