anyone remember who the 2 players who jumped in to save him were when he fought the grim reaper in his return game? For some reason I want to say Graves and Gilbert
If I rememer correctly he broke both Orital ones, I rememer when he fought the Reaper, It was bad, I also remember Messier & Campbell not being very happy with him @ the time in the post game interviews. I dont he ever played for the Rangers again after that fight.

When I saw the Orr fight the other night I thought about that fight Churla had with Grimson. You could hear Ranger players on the bench practicly begging the ref's to jump in and break it up saying he had a broken orbital bone. Grimson looked like he didn't want to hit him either toward the end.
If you look at the far left Messier is scream at the linesmen and point to his eyes and telling them to get in. I remember watching that live and saying wow some guys really are freaking tuff. Chainsaw had no business getting into that fight. I have it on dvd somewhere and will check the players to see who they were. Graves and what looks like number 28
Pretty sure that was Dallas Eakins... had to be a defenseman (Nemchinov and Graves are both shown, Churla is the 3rd forward) and hockeydb lists him as the only 28 that season.
At the end of the day it was a poor decision by Churla and it cost him. Always liked Churla though, he was a good checker, wasn't bad at defense and he turned himself into an okay player as well.
Was never a big guy, but always gave it his all.
Grimson I always felt bad for in this fight. The guy was a legit GOOD guy and you can see even in this fight that he didn't want to throw punches because if he had there were a few times where he could've killed Shane.
Yep...that's how it originally was injured. In a game agains the Flyers Churla was about to have a go with one of the Flyers. Antoski skated over, and took him on before he really had a chance to get set as he was about to fight another Flyer(Maybe Berube or McCarthy) anyway caught him with a shot that fractured his orbital.
Not too long after that Chrula was back in the lineup and he and Grimson got into it. It alsmo looked like Shane was hesitant(with good reason) but surprisingly nobody stepped up and stopped it before it happened. Grimson landed a bomb that reinjured the eye. Chirla skate doff and smached the camera on the way to the lockerroom.
Churla returned to fight a few more times after that and in one of his last fights he reinjured the orbital bone yet again against Scott Thorton. That was the end of a great career for one of the better enforcers of that time.
Antoski was a player I couldn't stand back in the day.
When the Rangers played the Canucks in the 94 regular season he punched Jay Wells on the back of the head as Wells was down...It was terrible...If I remember right the game almost had a bench clearing brawl...with Keenen and Quinn nearly having to be separated...
Antoski was gutless...a waste of a 1st round pick and somebody that COULD not get play in todays NHL...

I think it was against the Pens if I'm remembering it right. Churla wanted to go with Leroux at the time and Antoski suckered him.
The Grimson fight was just brutal. You could see him wanting to hold up after the first couple of shots but Churla kept coming. He definitely had more balls than brains at that point.

You were right. It was against the Pens and not the Flyers. For some reason I thought that happened in Philly.
