Jaroslav Spacek...
..is an UFA. He nabbed 14 pts. and averaged 25+ min. a game for Edmonton this past postseason.
Thoughts?
Within our price range?
Good fit?

I like him and he seems to fit the mold of a d-man with good mobility.

He will likely sign for between $2.75M and $3.25M.
Has trouble with quicker forwards coming in on him.
Has a good hard shot, though his accuracy is sometimes questionable.
Good 2nd pairing d-man.

Good assessment. I doubt he gets that much, probably in the 2.25-2.50 range. He also takes a TON of stupid penalties.

Considering Boyton just got $2.95 and McCabe got that idiotic amount of $5.5, I honestly can't see Spacek getting less than $3 -$4 million. I also think it will be closer to $4 million unless he signs with Edmonton for a little less because he absolutely loves it here and wants to stay but I'm sure they all mighty $ will play a part in where he goes.

With Pronger demanding a trade i fully expect Edmonton to resign Spacek. He was a deadline steal and well worth a contract in the low 3 million range.

There's the old saw about an infinite number of monkeys using an infinite number of typewriters to eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Along the way, the monkeys are bound to send Jagr or Chara to Toronto as well.

And remember, as well, that a broken clock is right twice a day.
