Clarity poor, angles and zoom good. Some replays. Both goalies played well except the quality of chances definitely favored the Hawks.

Grades:
#13 Dan O'Halloran - Skating: A-, Positioning: C, Safety: C+, Fairness: B-, Call Quality: B-
Not quite the speed for a full A on skating. Positioning dinged hard for bad positioning around net. Missed Xcheck and board dings safety. Inconsistent call level dings quality, fairness. Extra ding to fairness for call at 12:39 of first which should have been a 4on4 or washout.

#38 Francois St. Laurent - Skating: B, Positioning: B+, Safety: B, Fairness: D+, Call Quality: B-
Decent footwork on skating, not so good on anticipation. Positioning not challenged for net play. Maintained against transition play. Missed slash dings safety. Inconsistent call level dings quality, fairness. Imbalance of non-calls favoring Blues dings fairness, additional ding for call at 10:11 of first which should have been a 4on4 or washout.

Are Detroit and St. Louis teams known for their speed? "Team Zippo" (that's gonna be my nickname for when Rooney and Dwyer are paired) were working the game.

As for refs who might be MIA, it seems like it's been a while since I've seen O'Rourke.

O'Rourke had a game over the weekend, Cats/Thrash.

Good one on Team Zippo. Good time for others. Detroit challenged ref speed last year with their passing speed. This year they stretch a bit but their game isn't as challenging. Ref speed is most challenged by stretch passes and teams that play for neutral zone turnovers. My top teams for that are Florida, Atlanta, Washington, Chicago and Phoenix. Teams that have heavy cycles challenge their footwork. Best examples are SJ and Vancouver. St. Louis is more cycle if they get it going.

Refs can get as much as 4 days off between games, but going beyond a week is noteworthy. Leggo did it. That suggests suspension or injury. With their short roster this year, there is no way that they give anyone two weeks off.
