The hockey gods must REALLY believe that we need the #1 pick. If that's what they want, who am I to question it.

These injuries are just insane.....there aren't many teams as dependent on 2 players as we are, and now they're both injured.

I wonder what happens if we go on a big winning streak now......

Canes website says that Ward will be staying in Columbus overnight, but should be able to come home tomorrow.

I really thought Boychuk deserved an assist on that first goal too. I was hoping they'd tack that one on after the period. He really created that pressure that created the turnover if he didn't touch the puck directly.

Great to see him get the assist on the second one. You watch him play and see glimpses of what is to come.

A Hitchcock-coached team always goes into lock-down mode late with a lead. Their D held the blueline and the Canes don't have anyone skilled enough to skate it in regularly. So that becomes your only option. It certainly wasn't the Canes preference, but it was exactly what Columbus was trying to accomplish.

The real culprit here was yet another back-to-back goal sequence allowed by Carolina that has been like a plague.

I agree. I was at the game last night and that arena is beautiful. Great place to see a game.

"We'll have to see how it goes," Rutherford said today of Ward's injury and recovery time. "It appears it will be a fairly long period of time."

Rutherford said the Hurricanes are looking at different options: a trade, signing an available goaltender or calling up Justin Peters from Albany (AHL).

"We're talking over the options. We don't have an answer right now," he said.
After reading JR's comments about the injury, why do I get a distinct feeling that Manny Fernandez is suddenly in play for us to sign?

Maybe we can coax Weekes out of the HNIC play by play booth.
