You're mentioning some guys that didn't even play in the NHL. It's very hard to judge Russian players.

Bobby Clarke was a great player, if he wasnt in the whole place should be shut down. I dont think there should be much debate about Clarke whatever you think of him.

Bondra was a force in the league, winning the goal scoring title twice. Never even came close to winning a Norris, but was a great player for many years. Does he have a shot?

I doubt any other players that are primarily identified as a Capital from that era has a chance, but if you disagree then also comment on that. Thanks!

Wasnt Gochar 4th in Norris voting just a couple seasons back? He is a HOFer to me.

Gonchar's career has really snuck up on me. Two-time allstar, #1 defenseman on a Cup champion, arguably the best offensive d-man of his generation, productive in the playoffs, very consistent, etc.

I mean, on paper, that's as good as or better than some HOF defensemen. Obviously he wasn't a great defensive player though, at least for much of his career.

No doubt in my mind where they better than Oates. Do you want me to name another 50 players that played in the NHL that I'd take ahead of Oates? Right now I'll just settle to mention another 4 to get me to 50

There are already 2 Caps from the 90s in (Stevens and Langway).
There is one more definitely going in (Oates), 3 more maybes (Ciccarelli, Bondra and Housely) and 1 possibly but I doubt it (Hunter).

Furthermore, the Capitals traded away 2 Hall of Famers in one deal in 1989, Murphy and Gartner.
