if the shermanator wanted tanguay he probably would have gone after him this off season, all reports were he didn't even try
At the same time I don't think he expected Svatos to go goal-less for 10 games. Plus he'd obviously be ridding the team of a salary while acquiring Tanguay.
There's something about Tanguay that we dont know , Looks like the avs dont even want to be near him . I wonder what happend
He's lazy, soft, and oft-injured. Tanguay would turn invisible for stretches at a time, and was usually one of the first to give up when the going got tough. I'm personally glad we didn't sign him. I swear, Game 7 of the 01 finals gave Tanguay a free ride with a high percentage of Colorado fans. It's irritating.
Also, no to the trade. A lateral move, if not a step back. Svatos isn't someone I think is in our future plans, but if we were to keep him around, it'd be for cheaper than what Tanguay will fetch this offseason. (Unless of course, Svats tries to hold out for more money again, in which event I hope Shermington personally helps him pack his bags.

Oh that, i knew that for a long time , it's not a surprise.
I was expecting a Vinny proposal and the first thing I thought was WTF why would the avs want Vinny when they have two awesome centers already.. Although I kinda wouldnt mind Vinny going from my favorite east team to my favorite west team (even if it makes no sense)

Thats sounds a lot like Svatos. Maybe not quite the lazy part, but it's not like he is some high energy guy either.

The Avs offered all four of their 1998 1st round draft picks (who ended up being Tanguay, Skoula, Regehr, and Parker) for the Lightning's 1st overall, so it's not like they haven't tried.

Really? I wonder how that would have panned out for the Av's.. I mean Sakic, Forsberg, Lecavalier down the center?... "Oh, Foppa's injured, oh well, I guess Vinny will have to center that 2nd line.. ah shucks"

Exactly. Why bother with it, then? Svatos, as much as it pains me to say it, can be counted on for more effort than Tanguay. *Spits in the dirt.* Now, never make me praise Svatos's energy game again.
Tanguay, Skoula, Regehr, and Parker for Lecavalier. Wow. Right now, Lecavalier wouldn't exactly fit in on the lineup, but 1999-2003 would be incredible.
That being said, of the four first round picks, the one we gave up was Regehr. Excellent.

OMG regehr in an avs uniform would have been fantastic

Regehr was drafted by the Avs...
