Anyone been following his camp? From what I gather he's been one of the better players, better than Kenny Ryan aswell. Played on the first line with Kristo(2nd rnd pick) and Stepan (2nd rnd pick).

Not too bad for a 158th overall pick in the 6th two months ago.

The thing about D'Amigo is his speed and his cleverness with the puck allow him to fit seamlessly with more talented players. He's a glue guy that is needed in short tournaments where lines don;t have a lot of time to work on chemistry.

Ryan and D'amigo have both survived the first cuts. Looks like they have a good shot.

It's funny, on draft day this place was FLIPPING out.

Now everyone seems pretty good with all the picks. Except for the goon in the third round, was it? Devane?

Yeah IMO third is pretty early for a goon but I am putting my faith in management.

I have to admit I know nothing much about the guy but by checking some of his scraps on you tube he ain't even that good a fighter. He's a big guy who takes a lot more then he dishes out, this may be due to the fact that he does not know how to correctly grab the guy he's fighting but he misses a lot more then he lands that's for sure. For a third round pick it's still a mystery as to what Burke or his scouts saw in this kid? Size? willing to fight? Ryan Hollweg was willing to fight too but didn't mean he was a good fighter. For a team that needs skill this was a weird pick so early in the draft but what ever, hopefully he figures out the art of fighting because he ain't going to get far with his fists if that's all he's relying on.

I guess you didn't see the interview about Devane on draft day. I forget... was it Dave Morrison or a Scout?

Anyways.... they feel Devane is a project. They said something abouth im having okay hands and stuff, and he has great work ethic.... (I can't get/find the vid at work). I honestly think that Leafs hope that he turns into the next Milan Lucic, which is certainly possible.

I am hoping to follow Devane a bit next season. I hope he gets more playing time in Plymouth, and starts to Break out. It's not as bad as drafting Clifford in the 2nd round IMO.

You really see him being as good as Lucic? Possibly? I know nothing about the guy.

Neither do I, but from what the Person said (Scout or Dave Morrison... I forget)... it sounded like they see more than a goon from him. He had very similar stats to Lucic in his draft year, so there is that possibility. Whether he has the hockey sense and ability I dont know.

I was very impressed with D'Amigo when I watched him play against Canada at the U-18 tourny. Hes got good speed/agility, forechecks hard, goes to the dirty areas and has decent enough hands. Many US posters think hes just as good as Kenny Ryan. D'amigo's style of play looks alot like Zach Parise.

Heres a link to the USA vs Canada game at the U-18's

Only thing that people were saying is his 'height' but 5'11" isn't THAT short (Kadri is 5'11 3/4?) and that he needs to work on his defensive play (he's not a liability but it's an area he can improve on). His body is put together well (as in he has good dimensions). He's speedy, has decent physical play and has a nose for the net. What I can see is, he'll probably be ready in.. a couple of years (maybe 3) but other than that he's a solid pick and I was blown away that he was still there in Round 6.

Haha his negatives are "not that short" and "not great defensively", nice I am looking forward to seeing him develop.

Has anyone heard if Leafs management will be pushing him to Kitchener or will he definitely be going to RPI?

If he was a couple of inches taller, and a great defender, he'd be a 1st rounder
