Oshawa Generals to retire Orr's jersey Nov. 27

Quote:
In a highly overdue move, it was announced on Friday that Bobby Orr's jersey would be retired by the Oshawa Generals.

The Generals will raise Orr's No. 2 jersey to the rafters in a ceremony on Nov. 27 before a game between Oshawa and the Peterborough Petes at General Motors Centre.

The Generals said in a statement that Orr, 60, will attend, along with family members and former teammates.

My understanding is that Orr was always reluctant to agree to this in the past.

Another reason to be thankful for Eddie Shore!

#2 Bobby Orr just does not have the same ring to it!

I love that picture of Bobby in the dressing room... in this day and age where hockey players are so up tight with every little detail of their equipment, you can tell Bobby just went out there and got things done!

Rips in his socks, hell it looks like the knee protection in his shin pad is just his sock stuffed with other socks!

I just purchased my tickets this morning. Singles only left. Should be a great night out.

The fact that there are any tickets left reinforces the fact that this is an insulting overture to the greatest all around hockey player to ever play the game. They missed their chance and 40 years later it simply bestows no honor on Orr.

I'll let you know on Nov 28th. I have a feeling the passion will be overflowing with young and old paying a long overdue tribute to the city's biggest ever star. having the hated Peterborough Petes as that nights opposition doesn't hurt the entertaiment quality of the evening either.

Even this morning there are only singles left...I want to go badly, but not by myself. Did you get a pair?
