Aaron Rome resigns with Jackets (official)

On the main board, seems too strange to make up. I couldn't find the link on sportsnet.
so the question.... um, how?

i was under the impression that he was an RFA. so, if we want, we can match.

This is probably his best chance to play in the NHL. He's not an idiot. Howson will probably let him go.

See, this is interesting, because as far as I can see he has little chance of cracking Atlanta's lineup this season either. Not sure what is up with this deal, except maybe insurance if Atlanta can't get its Russian D prospect over (Ilya Nikulin).

Well Rome wasn't built in a day.....
Another year in the 'Cuse and he would be ready, IMO.

Maybe he feels with Zhetnik being bought out, he has a better chance making their team. I'm not to sure.

Why would he sign a two way in Atlanta?
I thought Hitchcock was pretty enamored with him, and that it wasn't a well kept secret.
Strange...

Alrighty. I guess this is a good thing. He probably would have had a better chance to play in Atlanta though.

Umm? Why? That's what he is. a depth signing. If someone gets hurt, he's there for D.E.P.T.H.

Never said he wasn't, did I? Not sure how you got me sarcastically asking to ban a term mixed up with "it's not a depth player signing." And thanks for spelling/explaining it for me, you've shown me how much more intelligent you are.

Our HFBoards player's profile on Rome doesn't pull a punch with that one.
He's been a journeyman, shuffled around to 4 different Junior teams and playing for 3 AHL squads ,his rights owned by 3 NHL teams.
We should see an inspired Rome in camp this fall.
