i think it sounds like we have 2 million left to sign another 3rd liner. no way they let that payroll get to 50 million

Just looking at what's left in the FA pool, Martin Rucinsky might be a decent center to sign for cheap. I think he could play the #2/#3 center role, depending on where Brassard ends up.

We can probably stretch the budget a little since all these new faces will be putting butts in the seats come October. GMSH made a big statement overhauling the team. Let's just hope it all gels together nicely. I'd go so far as to say I'm giddy with excitement for the new season.

I just don't see why we need another forward who is not a top six forward. I don't get it. Don't we already have Chimera, Novotny, Manny, Boll, Murray, and a host of others in the Cuse?

I also agree Backman is a third pairing PP specialist. He reminds me a little of Streit. Awful defensively, but can score on the PP from time to time. I just don't see why we want to pay this guy $3.2 mil to play on the third pairing.

I keep thinking about one goal we scored last year. Peca was in the faceoff, and instead of pulling the puck back between his legs, he pushed it forward to a teammate (forget who it was) who stepped up and slapped it home. It was a bang-bang play, and Peca's goal all the way. In the after-game interview, he said that he just looked over, caught the guy's eye and nodded. Total surprise.

Always liked Peca. Solid guy.

Funny thing, it was Z that scored that goal against Luongo, in the CBJ win!

Wow, we're really loaded down the left side now. Can someone jump to the right so we don't tip over?

Good times!
Wish we'd had a few more last year. Could have led to great times.

But I'm anxious for the new season, and having to memorize new names to go with the old numbers. They are still our Jackets.

I'd be shocked if Peca came back... But I'd welcome him back.

Guy delivered on exactly what was expected of him, didn't complain and played more games than I thought he'd be able to.

I see us willing to spend 50 million, but according to

http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.p...LB&season=0809

we've only spent 36 million so far...

are they missing something. Do we count the Duvie buyout?

Another concern I have is our team is suddenly very left handed.

I like all the moves so far but Brule, Fritsche, Zherdev are all right handed.

As it stands we only have Novotny, Boll, Commodore of the team that is right handed.

I think that Duvie's buyout counts 600K against the cap. Still need to take into account Leclaire and Umberger signings. Many are assuming it will take 8M, which would put us over 43M.

That's too funny. I'm sure Joe Casual Fan is running to pick up his tickets to see a bunch of mid-level NHL players. Seriously, novelty works best when its a big, marketable name. Unless we're going to have 41 OSU alumni nights in honor of RJ Umberger, we're going to have to win to get people in seats.

Brassard and Voracek had best be the next Kane and Toews. That's really what it comes down to.

Interesting names to me:

Smolinski, Barnes, York, Rucchin, Cooke

We could use a Kevin Dineen in lieu of not getting a 1st line center..

Hordichuk signed with the Canucks and Donovan re-signed in Ottawa.

From the mains and an article in the Ottawa Sun:

http://www.ottawasun.ca/Sports/Senat...50351-sun.html

The Senators are bracing for a raid on restricted free agents Antoine Vermette and Andrej Meszaros.

League sources told Sun Media yesterday the Canucks, Thrashers and Blue Jackets are so desperate to make a splash on the free-agent market, they're all looking at making offers for the highly touted winger and defenceman.

Yep... I have a feeling we'll be taking another attendance hit this season. Hell, I used to buy tix all the time, now, unless I can bum my Dad's season tix for a game and get off work for the night, I rarely go anymore.

Win and all that will change.

And what TV network in their right mind would pen us in their schedule? Ratings suicide.

We're going to have to win to get respect. JMac Inc. will be enjoying another losing season on the accounting books. Commodore jerseys ain't exactly going to fly off the shelves, unless a group of computer nerds think they're an amusing novelty.

Its Bruce Garrioch. Call me when TSN is reporting it, Garrioch has no credibility.
