Pluck, even you of all people, could admit the Richards deal would've tremendously helped us this season and next. OKT, Fritsche, and Brule would've hurt a tad but not alot. This was supposed to be the offseaon Howson made his mark. Last year all the free agent centers were out there and we ended up with Mike Peca, this year it might be Andrew Brunette and Mark Streit, same ****, different year. And those names I mentioned will have to be paid hefty to hit the cap floor. I'm not trying to complain, just trying to understand what the Dispatch was talking about.

JEEESSSHHHH!!!! Here we go again on Richards. Unhealthy man crush you have there. The deal wasn't done, and couldn't get done. Just because you could do it on EA sports nhl 2007 on your xbox doesn't mean anything. The offseason is not done!!!! Hitch is making his comments on the team right now. On this team right now, who would be the #1 center......it would be RJ. The offseason is not over! This whining is pathetic, especially when it comes from people who have very little "invested" in the team anyway. 99% of them are not season ticket holders and I bet don't even go to more than 2 games in a year.
I think it's all stemming from the Dispatch blog today, Hossa and Campbell basically no chance of coming here.
I ranted about Campbell in another thread, Hossa, well, let's be realistic, what were the odds of him signing here? he wouldn't resign in Atlanta, and he wouldn't even resign in Pittsburgh.(and I read the Dispatch today, and I wasn't put off really like some of you are.)

Lmao, I didn't know you had to live in the city to be invested, if I didn't have to drive 3 hours to get there, I would go to more games. Talk to Capn, you think he's not invested? dude's across the country and better than most fans. Hitch's comments were RJ is the top center, if you missed that. I said I wasn't complaining, just discussing, so you can stop whining about me whining, thanks.

Dude, maybe you were just too consumed with your own feelings during the Richards debate ... while I do not much admire Richards's game (and that's not likely to change until his game changes) ... I was on board with the deal even when it was Klesla, Brule/Fritsche and picks. I was the first and loudest condemner of Feaster for taking the deal he did ... thought it was stupid then, think it's stupid now. Go back and look it up for yourself.

it will be an imposing line...if Modin doesn't get injured again, but if we sign Malone, then it's still imposing. Personally, by the deadline, if Modin hasn't been injured I hope he waives his ntc, and we get someone reasonable for him...

On top of what you said, Hitch saying RJ is the top center is disappointing to say the least, who the hell is Howson gonna sign? a 2nd liner and a couple D? It's gonna be a long ass year as a fan.
And I was commenting that the constant whining when the offseason isn't even over is pathetic. The Richards deal is over and couldn't be done, same as the Jokinen. Being a fan from far away is perfectly fine. But I would think that there would be a larger correlation between the amount of whining and amount of $ invested.

Well, chief, if you feel like paying for airfare to and from games, I'll be happy to buy a PSL and tickets. For the record, I spend as much or more than you do, but I only get to see the Jackets 2-4 times for that money.
If you are content to sit around and think happy thoughts instead of calling the Jackets on it when they start having their press minions lower expectations when, as you point out the off-season has barely even begun, then do us all a favor and don't bother whining if when all is said and done Howson does nothing to significantly improve the team.

Cap.....when did I ever call you out???? I never did, TW did. I was just making an observation that I bet 99% of whining is done by those with nothing "invested" in the team. If you invest that much, then you are invested. To your second point, I just don't see the huge conspiracy theory of the "press minions" to lower our expectations. I apologize, but I don't understand the rest of your point.
I have 0 $ invested in the team(that i know of) and don't whine about the team. I usually whine about the fans. *insert smiley* .. (comp is heavy protected against smiley pop ups)

There's a difference between a "conspiracy" and "complicity." A conspiracy implies that the Dispatch and Jackets organization sit in a smoke-filled room and plot this all out. The reality is that the lazy reporters at the Dispatch pass on what they here from Scott Howson, Ken Hitchcock, et al., and defend every move they make without trying to even attempt anything approximating objectivity.

I quess it is interpreted by everyone differently. I for one, felt that the dispatch was over "hyping" the draft and making it sound like the jackets had the ability to make a huge splash for huge names when we just didn't have the assetts. My opinion on it is that the writers tend to get overly excited at the possibilities and are then knocked back down to reality. This reaction is what you interpret as accepting mediocrity by the press minions. But that is another topic, and i apoligize for getting off topic regarding Filatov.
lets stop caring about 18 year olds opinions. they are worthless
haha yeah, lets stop caring about his desires while someone who is older than 18 is tip-tapping Computer Dork Opinions about 18 year old kids who play hockey.
Not sure if this was mentioned in one of the other threads. If so, merge, or delete.
"I was wrong. Nikita Filatov, the Blue Jackets' first-round draft pick this season, can play center. I told a couple of readers via email that Filatov was a pure winger. Turns out he told the Blue Jackets that he always played center and wants to go back. The Blue Jackets want him to play center, too."
The bolded section is the important part. We knew he had played it. But he told the Jackets he wants to play again and we want him too. That would make us a little small down the middle though .

my opinion is he should play with other guys his age.
now if you want to start knocking tip-tapping Computer Dorks with opinion of kids playing hockey your going to go ahead and shut this site down cause that all we got running around here.
If people are mad, season ticket holder or otherwise, they need to let the administration know this now. Tell them you won't settle for more of the same lowered expectations. If you are a season ticket holder, let them know that you are disappointed that they seem to be backtracking on what they promised. If you just go to a few games, tell them that with the economy and gas prices being what they are, you're not sure you'll show up to any games next year if they don't make an effort to bring in legitimate top level talent.
To this point the fans have not bothered to make their displeasure known (other than in plummeting attendance). Fans need to be more vocal if they want real change.
Seriously, this DOES work. It happened with Columbus Crew fans when they were the laughingstock of MLS with Greg Andrulis at the helm. Fans made chants and directed them at GM Mark McCullers during matches, brought "pink slips" to the matches and handed them out to fans, demanded town-hall meetings with the GM, and basically harassed the GM until drastic changes were made.
Andrulis was subsequently fired, and the team has been on an upswing since. But it took the fans being vocal and demanding change, not just staying away from the games, to get something done. Trust me, management WILL LISTEN if you speak loudly enough. This was accomplished by a small group of Crew fans - you gotta think Jackets fans can do this too.
As for Filatov. Let him stick in the CHL for the year, against kids his age and size. If he sticks to the Jackets next year, ok. If not, leave him in Syracuse with the potential to be called up. I know most of the fans don't have the patience to wait, but these lines are seriously possible:
Shoot me down for playing optimist all you want. But if Brassard is left to the third line (as I hope) he can mature without so much pressure. The same goes for Voracek. If he's "ready" to come up next year, let him be the third line winger, and let him be crazy. You've got Chimmer on the other wing, make him defensively responsible, and let the two kids chip in with goals in front of the net.
I still think the bigger problem is on the blue line. God forbid we don't re-sign Hainsey. Worst case could leave us with Methot - Rome and Russell - OKT or Wilson -OKT again as our 3-4 and 5-6 guys.
If people haven't listened to it, it's not a bad listen. One of the thing that the blog dude didn't mention was Hitch's evaluation of Filatov. Hitch said he has a leg up on most of the other 18 year olds because he's been playing with the men over in Russia, so he has more experience (some pro hockey experience) then the average 18 year old. So when he gets on the ice with other 18 year old, he dominates. Also said he does things at full speed that no one else does on our team.
