Thomas Beauregard

Reading quite a few posters from Cincinnati, could someone comment on Beauregard's play this season?
I am a former fan of his from Bathurst, NB, Can.

He has been one of Cincinnati's best forwards all season. He had a minor injury where it was reported that he had a concussion a few weeks ago, but had no problems when he returned to the ice. I refer to him as a "sniper" because he has a great shot but also a very smart passer ... he has 24 goals and 27 assists on the year.

He also had 2 goals and was the # 1 star of the game last night in Cincinnati's 15th straight victory (new ECHL record).

Hope that helped to some degree.

Funny you should ask, as he actually got injured tonight. Not sure to what degree yet. I was at the game, he got checked by a much bigger skater and it appeared to me that he was just shaken up, but he had to get helped off the ice and appeared to be in bad shape. Some sources told me he was favoring his leg. He had been playing great lately as usual and had a hat trick (his second of the year) the other night.

Any news on his injury?

It was some kind of knee injury. He was on crutches last night when the rest of the players auctioned off their green St. Patrick's Day jerseys after the game. From what I heard he will most likely miss the remainder of the regular season but be healthy by April 11th (the start of the second round of the playoffs, Cincinnati gets a bye in the first round).

Hey chsb. How are you doing? I've been searching around for some more news of Beau as well. I watched him play in Bathurst for a few years. You probably don't know me, but I'm porkchops brother.
Anyway, it seems like Beau is doing pretty well with 31 goals and 34 assists in 59 games in the regular season for 65 points and 8 goals and 7 assists in 13 playoff games including the game winner in overtime to give them the 2-0 lead over the South Carolina Stingrays. That's after the team came back in the third period from a 3-0 deficit.

If you're looking to keep up on a day to day basis, here's the link to the teams website. Click on news...features....weekly news for the latest playoff updates.

Injury

T. Beauregard suffered an injury towards the end of the game Friday night in SC. He returned to the bench and skated after the game some. Hope he is okay.

I was at the game last night (first Stingrays game I've been to all year). I didn't seen anything that happened that was extremely forceful or dirty. He favored his knee a bit but was hobbling on it at one point.

I have to say I was very impressed with the Cyclones play. Extremely sharp puck movement on the power play, their defense did a fine job shutting the Rays down, and their goalie was sharp.

Cyclones advance

T. Beauregard could not play but Cyclones managed to advance. Played short handed a good part of the game and won on SHG in OT.

I am a former fan of his from Bathurst, NB, Can.

He was a very valuable addition to the team. He was our second leading regular season scorer. He wasn't 100% after his injuries. In fact, he was scratched from the final 2 KC Finals games.

He's a dynamic scorer at the ECHL level. He's primarily a shooter-he never passes up a decent shot. He can also drive to the net with the puck and create alot of scoring opportunities.

I'm not overly confident about his ability to be effective at a higher level. While he scores plenty enough, his shot isn't particularly hard or heavy. His scoring range isn't that big. Most of his goals come from within 15 feet.

Beauregard also isn't the best of skaters. His speed is suspect and he isn't particularly strong on his skates. He tends to get knocked down to the ice an awful lot. I would think that this and his scoring range were probably the reasons he went undrafted despite putting up outstanding numbers in juniors.

He became a much better defensive player as the season progressed. He was attentive to his backchecking. He saw limited penalty kill time (he did well) and the coach didn't hesitate to use him when the game was tight in the closing minutes.

Hamilton just exercised their option on him for next season. I'd be interested to see how he would perform at the next level. I assume that he's on a two-way deal, so he may see plenty of action in Cincy again.

Well you can take it for what it is worth, but only him and Desharnais were called up by the Habs so far for playing next year in Hamilton.
No doubt that Desjardins might be called up also though.

Um ... no one is called up at the point in the year to play in Hamilton next year. They may be assigned there in the fall but they weren't called up at this time to play next season in Hamilton.
