A Canadiens and Canucks fan

Hi,

I'm from Montreal and obviously a huge Canadiens fan/supporter, however, my second favorite team is definitively the Canucks because Luongo is my favorite goalie and I know his brother very well and because I have a lot of family in Fraser Valley (Surrey, Panorama Ridge, Cloverdale and Abbottsford).

I really think that the Canucks needs to build from Luongo out, so basically stack up on defensive prospects and sign UFA's that are defensemen etc. Bob (Gainey) did a great job in Montreal and continues to do so and I have the same confidence in Mike Gillis.

In order to build the team, you have to hire someone new (even though I think Dave Nonis did a good job in Vancouver). The team is headed in the right direction and I really think that the players will be happy that reinforcements will be added and/or signed during the off season and for seasons to come.

I look forward to seeing the Canucks in the playoffs again and for years to come!

Why do you have the same confedence in Mike Gillis as you have in Gainey?

Gainey is a Stanley Cup winner and has show he can build a hockey team.

Gillis is a former player agent with ZERO experience in any kind of management.

No, what I am trying to say is that I have confidence in Mike Gillis because you need a fresh start and as much as I hate the "R" word, the Canucks need to rebuild from Luongo out and Dave Nonis was clearly not heading in that direction.

funny the Canucks under Nonis's vision was building from Net out. It was strong Defence strong goaltending with fast quick fowards playing a defensive system.

Gillis's vision are guys that are versatile, fast aggressive, play with alot of heart, he does not categorize anyone in "lines" but your a "top6" foward or bottom 6 foward.

I can see the Canucks using the Ducks model for seasons to come.

Dave's plan was to build from the net out.
I mean... that was his downfall. He didn't wanna downgrade D to upgrade the O.

Also if you look around here in the Nucks section..
you'll see that many fans seem to wanna go back to run & gun hockey..

Go figure..

I think run and gun is much better too, I am glad that Gainey and Carbonneau finally bought into it this season.

Now if Carbo would stop using defensemen as forwards eh?

Um, that's exactly what Nonis was doing.

How were we not doing that?

Yeah...
If not THE best depth then one of the deepest blueline cores in the league.
A really solid checking line in Burrows - Kesler - Pettinger.

All that is missing is revamping the Top 6.
