Haha, well you see we grew up in FL for most of our lives... where media bias and such doesn't exist. Hell, half the people down here don't even know what hockey is. We played street hockey and occasionally jabbed at each other when the Rangers would beat the Isles or vice versa, but there was never any animosity whatsoever. I think that's the way it works outside of the tri-state area... he and I never developed that sense of overbearing superiority, the Rangers sucked for most of the the years we played together anyways... I had nothing to brag about.

Still, we routed for our team til' the end. Those were good days.

good story (first post) im a ranger fan because my dad had season tickets since he was a tennager so i grew up a rangers fan. when i think about it i doubt i would even like hockey if it weren't for my dad and my brother. it's good to see people get into it at the age of 17 i know i probably wouldn't.

I became an isles fan because in '94 on the Rags way to the cup (unfortuantely) my whole 6th grade class was rootin for the rangers and i hated it..i could not stand it

I went to my first isles game when i was in 7th grade and thought it was the most exciting sporting event ive ever witnessed. I remember it like it was yesterday..i sat in section 313 towards the top and the Isles lost to the Winnipeg Jets 7-5. I think the game was in Feb. or March. The following year I went to visit my Uncle who lives in Maryland and went to the isles/caps game and watched Ziggy Palffy (my fav alltime islander--from when i started watching) score 2 goals to beat them 2-0. I felt like i was the only fan in the building.

The year after i asked for isles tix for christmas and went to an isles/devils game 1st row. I remember not liking the seats as much because i had a tough time seeing the far end of the ice. My mom's boss had season tix in section 210 so I went to a few games/season after that. A few years later my dad got us a partial season ticket plan in the same section. I kept those seats for 3 years until I went away to college. I would come home as much as possible to attend games, but nothing stands out in my mind more than Game 3, game 4 and game 6 of the series against the maple leafs. Seein the coliseum rockin when the isles won game 3 7-1....the bates' shootout goal we all remember so well in game 4...and forcing a game 7 in toronto.

Ive been to every home playoff game since (all 6 of them against the sens, lightning, and sabres) but nothing matched the tenacity of the maple leafs series.

While I abosolutely love and admire the hate spit at all the Rag$ fans, All of my best friends are Rag$ fans...I grew up in North Jersey and I was the only Isles fan in my high school....those kids are like my brothers but when the Isles and Rag$ play, they aren't allowed in my house....it's that simple, I've never gone to a hockey game with any of them, I never stepped a foot inside MSG....just like they have never come to the colisuem with me. When it's all said and done, I would take a bullet for any of them but I've also punch three of them in the face over hockey games.....It's a give/take kinda relationship.
