His closing statement on them really stood out for me:

"They (the Sedins) may not be complimentary to our style of play next year"
It may also simply be posturing as they are due for extensions. That's what it seems to me the more things he says.

I read the other member's recaps of what was said.

Gillis IMO said what he could without showing his hand to every other GM in the NHL.

He CANT say he wants to trade/not sign certain players as this tips off others about his actions. Poker face all the way. We have to live with that and hope he does a good job. That is what we are paying him for.

On the Sedins, they need the pressure off of them. Pressure is coming not just from us and the team, but from opponents who always put their top D players against them, and dont bother checking ANY ONE else on our team. We have 2/3's of a top line and then two 3rd lines right now. Naslund doesnt click with anyone on the team; he might with Kesler if Kesler was a bit better with the puck. Maybe Raymond at Centre but Raymond might not be ready for that.

This is true too...although personally I'd prefer a different nucleus as the Sedins really haven't proven they can handle being the top line.

You're bang on about Naslund. He doesn't click with anyone and actually brought down the play of others.

I'm quite excited to see what happens this summer, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Bringing in Demitra and Naslund as top liners would be a major step back.
