I am posting to eat my crow...I was over optimistic, and I apologize for any false hope I provided. There is an old Buffalo sports saying...

"Maybe Next Year..."

Nothing to eat crow about. It looked pretty hopeful there at times, I don't think anyone (well... I can think of one or two people...) will fault you.

Here's to next year.

It ain't over yet! I have a feeling the players will dig down deep, put together a little streak and make things interesting. When things are at their worst is when they tend to rally.

And make sure that pick is 10-12 instead of 7-9. Awesome.

Your such an optimist Chain... you really think our pick will be as low at 7? You give this team too much credit

the whole worrying about the draft pick thing is pretty tiresome IMO. For me, no.30 is the perfect draft pick.

Until the team has no mathematical chance to make the playoffs, you play every game to get there. I'd love to see these guys show some fight.

How quaint.

I just don't see it in this team; they've been inconsistent all year; how could they turn it on for a playoff/Cup run when they can't even get up for games against the team they "want" to overtake in the standings?

So very true now that you pointed it out.

The team's current state in terms of confidence and performance has hit rock bottom. That's got to be a wakeup call for most of these guys. They should feel like they have something to prove at this point.

If I don't see a VERY inspired performance in their next game, I will be even more disappointed. This team needs to show that they have some balls.

I have stopped looking up in the standings and started to look to see who can pass us.

TBN: Sabres limping down the stretch.

Quote:
“We’re playing not to lose, which is defeatist in itself,” said a calm Miller, who had no chance on any of the Penguins’ goals. “It’s never going to work. You can micromanage and analyze it, but it comes down to attitude and what it takes to win a hockey game. Right now we don’t have it.”
Quote:
“The best thing we can do is get the pressure off,” Miller said. “There’s really nothing to lose. We’re already on the outside looking in. What have we got to lose? We’re already out of the playoffs. We better play.”

I've been saying this for the last few games. I'm starting to think that the reason they're not showing that they have some balls is that they don't, in fact, have any balls.

I'd love them to prove me wrong, mind. But I'm not optimistic. Not this year.

Its still there for them. Its a matter of whether they can get their heads into it and make a push.Time will tell as they say.

They still have some control of their destiny if you can believe it. 5 points behind the Bruins whom they play 2x.

Miller had no chance on any of the goals against? I beg to differ

Don't get hung up on that, it was editorializing by the writer.

Read Miller's comments. They are pretty spot on about the situation. I listened to his comments last night on the post game

I agree, I'm just beyond frustrated with this team. They have shown no signs of life, I don't see them winning more than 4 of their last 11 unless they make a serious turn-around.

They'll keep Campbell, add some cheap depth at defense during the trade deadline, and get hot at the right time!!!

That wasn't a completely unrealistic POV at the time...

Now let's break it down:

I'm hopeful.. Then again I don't live in Buffalo so I don't get to see as many games, and feel the anger/pain you guys feel.

I live in Vancouver.. and we suck balls.. but somehow we're still in the playoffs.

I don't know what to say.. Finish 8th, probably out in the 1st round anyways..

It's ALMOST like - why bother..

Then again, if the Canucks make the playoffs.. our city is going to go nuts.. even though we all know how horrible the team is.

With Luongo and a team of blind squirrels you always have a chance...kind of like when Buffalo had Hasek.

Not really.

Last year, Luongo' 7th in the NHL iirc, was the first time he has ever played in the playoffs.

No goalie can do it all by themselves. Some like Luongo need less help than others but his career speaks for itself. He has been a fantastic goalie form quite some time and got no where until going to Vancouver.
