So, I was reading through the Holiday Haul thread and noticed quite a few peoples got Wiis. Just thought I'd start this thread for anybody looking for some good games to pick up.
So I'll start by saying the games I have (got my launch day, Nintendo fanboy to the end):
Wii Sports (came with the system, always fun for about an hour)
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (fantastic)
Wii Play (needed another remote, turns out to be fun)
SSX Blur (decent snowboarding game)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (I love me a female video game heroine, and the controls are fantastic)
Super Mario Galaxy (what can I say, a perfect game)
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (pretty damn good online FPS, with perfect controls, maybe even better than mouse and keyboard, idk yet)
Accessories: 2 Remotes, 2 Nunchucks, Wireless Sensor Bar (a MUST), Charging Station
Looking for to: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (obviously)
Mario Kart Wii (12 player online, hell yes)
Wii Fit (I'm not fat, I just want the board to be used in games like SSX and Tony Hawk)
So, who else has a Wii and what games do you have?
I've got Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Mario Party (8 I think). MP is fun when you have people over.
Honestly though, I don't play it much. Most of the time I'm playing Halo 3 or COD4 on 360 online, or playing with my 3 friends (we call ourselves the "Newark Sharks") online with NHL 2k8 playing against other online teams, or playing Rock Band (full set, I'm the singer of our "band") on 360.
Otherwise I'm watching HD-DVD's on my 360 add-on or blu-rays on my PS3.
Wii is quite the afterthought, but I hope SSB Brawl delivers.
i used to go bowling a lot about a year ago but stopped because i got tired of spending so much money on it and kinda just got tired of going to the lanes. since ive gotten the wii for xmas ive been playing wii bowling a ton. its a super fun game and im getting pretty damn good at it.
my friend also gave me wario ware. this game is pretty insane. if you are looking for a really fun drunken wii game to play with friends this is it. its only a 1 player game but you can just switch back and forth after each game. it goes fast.
I loves my Wii. Too bad it's taking a while for game designers to take it seriously/figure out how to design controls that work well. But, they're starting to get there.
Games:
Wii Sports (of course)
Medal of Honor: Vanguard - I wouldn't recommend this FPS.
Lego Star Wars - This is a real fun tongue-in-cheek game. It's all of the Star Wars episodes...Legoized.
Super Mario Galaxy - Simply an AMAZING game
Guitar Hero III - AWESOME game as well! Now they just have to make I and II for the Wii
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - My only gripe about this is the lack of offline multiplayer. Fantastic FPS.
Resident Evil 4 - Great game. Controls are spot-on and graphics are awesome.
Accessories:
2 controllers, 2 nunchucks (I bought the second controller when I bought the Wii, not knowing about the Wii Play deal. Pissed me off when I found out about that.)
Wireless control bar (Psyclone Essentials). I agree, a MUST have!
My list of "looking forward to" games is the same as you Emperor. Mario Kart is going to be phenomenal and SSB should be equally excellent. I do hope there will be a build of COD4 for Wii. That game looks amazing!
I'm still waiting to get my Wii, since every freaking store here is sold out, and I know that when I got the IOU for christmas, my parents told stories about the Best Buy staff suggesting they go wait outside at 2am with 50 other people for a chance at like 6 consoles. Insane.
With the IOU I got Wii Play, and I'll have Wii Sports with the console. My current list of "Wii games I want to play" is:
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Zelda Twilight Princess
-Lego Star Wars
-Godzilla Unleashed
-Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law (comes out in January)
-Super Smash Bros.
-Mario Kart Wii
I really hope they make a full on Mario Golf/Mario Tennis game like they had on the N64 and Gamecube. Those were a blast. And I also plan on getting some Gamecube games for my Wii (gradually). Stuff I missed out on by not having a GCN, like Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, the GCN Mario golf/tennis games, Soul Calibur II, etc.

We got a Wii for the family, and it is my first home video game system, yep I'm sort of a tard that way.
Anyway we have:
Wii Sports- have yet to play
Super Mario Galaxy- My 6 YR old has gotten farther on this than me (!)
Lego Star Wars- full disclosure I played this for a few hours already and its sort of my speed.
High School Musical- for the daughter
Hanna Montana- see above
Is any NHL 2008 or something like it going to be on the Wii System? Would like to play something like that.
I also like how this guy has included his life story in the listing.
Score! Now all I have to do is find an easy way to get a few hundred grand.
If the guy is telling the truth (which I doubt), it's terrible for him. If he's lying to con some sympathy dollars out of people (more likely accurate, but not going to happen) he's scum.
It's fun playing sports games on Wii, Golf and Baseball are great. I wish they would make a hockey game that would be interesting if we could control the goaltender but they would probably need a wireless nunchuk to make that happen.

I heard EA was making a 2009 version for Wii. I have faith in them, Madden and Tiger have been pretty good.
Oh, forgot to say I'm also waiting for a full-on Mario Tennis/Golf/Baseball/Bowling game. Wii Sports is so fun, but it lacks any depth. I mean, I would like to be able to move my character to get to the ball in tennis, or play another course, or control my fielders/runners, etc.

I hope you're right about a potential NHL '09 game! I'll have to look into that. I need to give Madden a try. I got Tiger '08 for Christmas, and it's not a bad game, although the graphics are nothing to write home to mother about. I never played '07, but I hear the Tiger '08 is pretty much the same. I guess that happens when you put out a sequel only 6 months after the initial release. Nonetheless, a fun golf game. Though not seeing a gallery when there is cheering really aggravates me. Also, unless you take a 1/4 swing, you'll hit the ball with 110% power, typically resulting in the shot going over the green.
I just got mine before the holidays from my wife, she was nice enough not to make me wait.
Other than Wii Sports(of course) I also have Mario Galaxy(I love this game!) and an extra remote(but I still need another nun chuck).
I still need(and look forward to) Zelda, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl,Metroid Prime 3 and either a classic controller or an SNES controller adapter. I really don't like the virtual Console controls for SNES games using the Gamecube controller.

You can eventually unlock multiplayer for Warioware. I play it at my friends nearly every day. It's a real fun game.
stupid question but how do you connect the wii to the internet? i have a wi fi connection but it doesn't work. any ideas?
Select "Wii" on the bottom left of the screen. Then go to "Wii Settings," and from there click on the arrow pointing right and there will be a menu that says "internet." Click on that, then "connection settings," and you can setup a wireless connection.
