My report has very little to do with the age of the players – and it should be noted that 24 year olds should be further ahead than an 18 year old… Having said that, my Oiler notes are:
Bryan Lerg – best offensive player setting the open player all the time; no defensive errors jumped out at me… He is tiny – same size as Eberle.
Jordan Eberle – multiple personality; great when the puck was in the offensive side of the red line – could have had a couple of goals & impressive passer. Coughed the puck up in his own end twice.
Garet Hunt – who is this agitator? Smaller than Eberle but hit & yapped at everything that moved. Completely rattled the opposition to the point that the coach seemed to never take him off the ice in the 3rd period. Had some offensive chances; looked good on the penalty kill.
Bryan Pitton – player of the game; made two outstanding saves in the first period when the Bears were playing tic tac toe with the puck as our players looked like pylons…
Anthony Pisano – definitely not related to Pisani; He continually was out of position & made poor judgment calls.
Milan Maslonka – he is what I expected Plante to be… Big, uses his size well to move players out of the way. Impressive low hard shot from the point that resulted in one goal. Was caught out of position a few times as he went for an opportunity that was not there. He should be signed & sent to Springfield for Oiler type training.
Alex Plante - nothing spectacular; a few errors (one cost a goal). His skating seemed better than what I saw in Sherwood Park a few months ago - yet, still not fast...
