Kronblom 08-14-2004, 06:37 AM What happened with Sokolov?
stv11 08-14-2004, 07:02 AM Why are some RSL players allowed to play in the world cup, and some others not ?
thome_26 08-14-2004, 07:24 AM I thought I read that Frolov was added a bit ago some where?
Kevin Forbes 08-14-2004, 03:01 PM What happened with Sokolov?
perhaps he wasn't allowed to go by his RSL team?
2forsbergaura1 08-14-2004, 03:08 PM i'm glad PETROV and KOVALENKO are joining. petrov is a hard working guy and kovalenko wants to prove he can still play in the nhl. i'm kinda tired of all these high-price fedorovs whining about their INJURIES...its HOCKEY! suck it up! (and this is from a guy born in Ukraine)
OlivierRoyFan 08-14-2004, 03:20 PM Glad to see Petrov there. Truely an underrated player.
Frogurt 08-14-2004, 03:38 PM Oleg Petrov? I love the guy, but he's not World Caliber... He'll give his linemates a lot of energy, which I guess is more positive the more talent you get, but he basically skates in the offensive zone for a minute with the puck, then loses it in the corner.
wilka91* 08-14-2004, 03:50 PM I've read somewhere that Frolov is ON the team, but he's not on the list ... weird.
Hydroponic Harold 08-14-2004, 04:08 PM What was Boris mikhalev and Vladimir krutov not available ?????hahahahahahaahahaha
Kevin Forbes 08-14-2004, 04:24 PM http://www.sport-express.ru/art.shtml?90528
this interview with Tretiak says that they're hoping Nabokov can join them at camp
Psycho Papa Joe 08-14-2004, 05:54 PM Wouldn't they have been better off getting a couple of youngsters who are hungry and want to prove themselves. This is just ugly.
nurminen31 08-14-2004, 06:31 PM From what I read, I thought Russia was in worse shape than it really is. Their forwards are all talented, and their defense looks fully in tact, and if Nabby plays, than the loss of Habby doesnt matter. Or perhaps I am missing something? Do these departures make the teams chemistry better or worse? Any info. is greatly appreciated.
Rabid Ranger 08-14-2004, 07:01 PM Wouldn't they have been better off getting a couple of youngsters who are hungry and want to prove themselves. This is just ugly.
Isn't that what's happening though? I know the current roster isn't as talented as it could be, but conversely, it looks harder working and more defensively responsible. This is going to be a tough tourney to win, for any team IMO.
Kovalenko and Petrov over Saprykin and Frolov.................. :banghead:
#11 Saku Koivu 08-15-2004, 08:17 AM Well ok, maybe the Russians have a different way of thinking than we do, but don't complain, cause their roster is still plenty good.
It could look something like this...
Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Kovalev
Samsonov-Yashin-V. Kozlov
Zubrus-Ovechkin-Morozov
Petrov-Kvasha-Afanasenkov
Gonchar-A. Markov
Kasparitis-Tverdovsky
Vishnevski-Kalinin
Volchenkov
Nabokov
Bryzgalov
That looks like a pretty good team to me.
wilka91* 08-15-2004, 09:06 AM On paper the Russians had a very scary team ... probably even more than the Canadians. But Bure got injured, and the rest of the team sucked on the ice.
We'll see what these guys are capable of.
i said it WILKA ! Fedorov will not be on the rooster !
The russians were never scarier than the Canadians the defense just isnt close but I do agree on paper they were prolbably the second best team. Its pretty sad when you could have had this team.
Kovalchuk Federov Mogilny
Samsonov Datsyuk Kovalev
Frolov Zhamnov Yashin
Saprykin V.Kozlov Zubrus
Kvasha Nikolishin V.Bure
Gonchar Kasparaitis
Zhitnik Zubov
D Markov Malakhov
A Markov Kalinin
Khabibulin
Nabokov
Bryzygalov
But you have this team.
Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Kovalev
Samsonov-Yashin-V. Kozlov
Zubrus-Ovechkin-Morozov
Petrov-Kvasha-Afanasenkov
Kovalenko Chubarov
Gonchar-A. Markov
Kasparitis-Tverdovsky
Volchenkov-Kalinin
Vishnevski
Nabokov *
Bryzgalov
DatsyukOwnzU 08-16-2004, 02:56 AM Kovalenko and Petrov over Malkin? :dunno:
CristoHuet 08-16-2004, 09:11 AM PETROV!
This is just a treat for me even though I'm not a Russia fan.. he was my favorrite forward when he played for the habs.. maybe this could be a foot back into the NHL door for him if he can have a part in a couple of games..
Trudel 08-16-2004, 11:21 AM here's the roster who's announced here in Switzerland to participate at trainingscamp in Kloten (a few players like Kovalev and Yashin are already there!):
a link with a pic: www.hockeyfans.ch, scroll down on the right side are the news, click on the one called "Showtraining der NHL-Stars in Kloten".
Torhüter: Maxim Sokolov (Omsk/RUS), Alexander Fomitchev (Novosibirsk/RUS), Ilya Bryzgalov (Anaheim/NHL, rückt später nach), Evgeny Nabokov (San Jose/NHL, rückt später nach, fällt ev. verletzt aus).

Stürmer: Ilya Kovalchuk (Atlanta/NHL), Alexei Yashin (New York Islanders/NHL), Oleg Kvasha (New York Islanders/NHL), Pavel Datsyuk (Detroit/NHL), Alexei Kovalev (Montréal/NHL), Sergei Samsonov (Boston/NHL), Maxim Afinogenov (Buffalo/NHL), Dainius Zubrus (Washington/NHL), Alexander Ovechkin (Dynamo Moskau/RUS), Artem Chubarov (Vancouver/NHL), Viktor Kozlov (New Jersey/NHL), Dmitri Afanasenkov (Tampa Bay/NHL), Andrei Kovalenko (Yaroslavl/RUS), Alexei Morozov (Kazan/RUS), Oleg Petrov (Zug/SUI).
Kevin Forbes 08-16-2004, 11:53 AM what does "rückt später nach" and "fällt ev. verletzt aus" mean?
bizoncol 08-16-2004, 07:56 PM Morozov will not be playing. He's got a groin injury or something like that. Nabokov's knee is too bad and 99.9 % he won't play either.
Simagin 08-17-2004, 04:12 PM Frolov replace Morozov ???
http://www.wch2004.com/rosters/
Trudel 08-18-2004, 04:28 AM "rückt später nach" means he will come later to camp
"fällt ev. verletzt aus" means possibly he will not come to camp because of an injury
What happened with Sokolov?
Back on July 1st, it was announced that Sokolov would not be let go from his Russian league team because it was during their season.
wilka91* 08-18-2004, 03:18 PM i said it WILKA ! Fedorov will not be on the rooster !
He's injured.
Blake is too, and so is Yzerman.
wilka91* 08-18-2004, 03:21 PM Frolov replace Morozov ???
http://www.wch2004.com/rosters/
Yes, Frolov is ON the team after all. But he couldn't leave to Kloten because he doesn't have a visa to Switzerland. That won't be a problem.
I also read that Nikolai Zherdev will probably join the team.
Redrum 08-19-2004, 03:08 PM I'd like to see Saprykin up there it would be really good for his confidence.
sharkyz15 08-20-2004, 02:44 AM I thought Alexander Korolyuk would be named to the original roster but this is just rediculas.
Russia looks to be really going down hill.
I say just play the youngsters (Zherdev, malkin, frolov, and chistov ext)
They are much brighter then the current russians in the NHL
not to mention, a lot of the players on the team are really getting up there in years
Yes, I'd expected Korolyuk as well...
As much as everyone has counted out Russia and also the fact that it's a video game, I simulated the World Cup with correct rosters in NHL 2004 and Russia actually wound up with the Silver medal anyway.
