I'm guessing Turco...

I'm guessing it'll be Theo stepping in, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cujo.

Ok, sorry.

Theodore is the logical choice, but you never know who it could be. Lots of great Canadian goalies.

Roloson and Denis are good choices too, better than Turco at least.

Turco seems like the most logical choice since the defense wouldn't have to adjust playing infront of him or Brodeur, whereas they likely would if it's a goalie without the stickhandling qualities.

Just to be part of the crowd, I am going to say Theodore will get it too. Although my crystal ball also sees, in no particular order, Raycroft, Joseph, Turco, and Giguere as darkhorses.*

*some very darker than others.

It'll be either Theodore or Turco...I personally think that Theodore will get the nod. But who really cares...it's not like they are going to get any playing time anyway...

Should be Turco, he's been the most consistently good Canadian goalie (other than Brodeur) over the last three seasons.

Theodore would be my pick. Turco can be a bit too risky at times with his puckhandling...

If stickhandling is why you would take Theo over Turco you've got another thing coming. Theo while not horrible is average and tends to overplay. Turco on the other hand is simply outstanding.

While I'm never happy to see a player be injured, I'm relieved that Belfour will not be participating in the tournament because this eliminates any chance that he will actually play. I was concerned he may play in the backup role, which I think there are several goaltenders who are better than him (although obviously Gretz and Co didn't).

This probably will put Luongo into the b/u role, which might be a good thing, just to let him see this level of play for the future when he probably will be one of Canada's top netminders.

I'm somewhat curious to see who gets asked to be the third goalie now. It doesn't really matter, I don't think, seeing how its unlikely he will play, but for prestige it would be a big deal to the players. I expect to see Jose Theodore named, personally, but perhaps Marty Turco will get the nod.

I would think that Theodore gets the call and if not Giguere would be my second choice. Turco has had two poor playoff showings in a row, which likely will rule him out.

I have to agree that it doesn't really matter who they choose.. they won't be playing for the most part. maybe get 1 game.

Theodore

Brodeur will start just because of his career accomplishments.

Luongo IMO will end up the starter in the important games and I hope he shows the world that he's the best goalie.

BTW, Hannan got a 3 year 7.8 million dollar deal in SJ.

McCabe got a 2 year 9 million dollar deal in TOR :shakehead :shakehead

McCabe is good but not for 4.5 million a year. Maybe 2.75-3 mil, but 4.5 :(

That's pathetic

When I found out about this I was watching the score and didn't catch the name of the goalie who was out, but the way they were talking about it, it sounded like they were reading an obituary... I thought for sure it was Brodeur, thank god it turned out to be our third stringer.

I can't see why it really matters who the third guy is, they mind as well pick it on who charts shots the best because if anyone occupying that spot sees the ice, it's because team Canada has probably already lost at least two games and the cup is just about out of reach.
