TOGLIATTI 08-09-2004, 09:05 AM Should Ovechkin play on number one line with Fedorov? Who should the captian be? Peter25 08-09-2004, 09:07 AM Fedorov has declined to play in the World Cup so Russia will be without itīs two best centers Fedorov and Alexei Zhamnov. ALF AmericanLionsFan 08-09-2004, 09:30 AM I didn't know Fedorov has declined. Where did you see this? TORRUS 08-09-2004, 10:11 AM WHAT? Fedorov has declined?! Where did you get that? If that's true I'm afraid there is nothing left for Russia at this tournament! I just prey to God that everything will be great before the Olympics!   Markov 08-09-2004, 10:14 AM I never heard anything about Fedorov declining. :dunno: It has all been rumors so far. TOGLIATTI 08-09-2004, 10:18 AM Fedorov has declined to play in the World Cup so Russia will be without itīs two best centers Fedorov and Alexei Zhamnov. Do you know what you are talking about????? Jason MacIsaac 08-09-2004, 10:20 AM Kozlov can handle the 2nd line job.....1st line is pushing it though... Peter25 08-09-2004, 10:43 AM I read from a Finnish source that Sport-Express has said that Fedorov wonīt play in the World Cup. Vincent Vega 08-09-2004, 11:57 AM Kozlov can handle the 2nd line job.....1st line is pushing it though... I'm guessing it will look like this then... 1st line: Alexei Yashin 2nd line: Pavel Datsyuk 3rd line: Viktor Kozlov 4th line: Artem Chubarov Thoughts? palsoft 08-09-2004, 11:58 AM I read from a Finnish source that Sport-Express has said that Fedorov wonīt play in the World Cup. That's not official so far, i think. If it will be, i should now about that, because i'm doing portal for WC2004. Simagin 08-09-2004, 12:53 PM Fedorov has declined to play in the World Cup so Russia will be without itīs two best centers Fedorov and Alexei Zhamnov. Valeri Bure has declined too.... http://www.metallurg.ru/news/12004/ DatsyukOwnzU 08-09-2004, 03:15 PM I'm guessing it will look like this then... 1st line: Alexei Yashin 2nd line: Pavel Datsyuk 3rd line: Viktor Kozlov 4th line: Artem Chubarov Thoughts? IMO, Datsyuk should start above Yashin especially with more open ice in the tournament...I am a little biased though. hockeyscribe22 08-09-2004, 03:58 PM Don't speak Russian! :help: BruinsGirl 08-09-2004, 04:49 PM Valeri Bure has declined too.... http://www.metallurg.ru/news/12004/ Wow...they sound really mad in their discussions (after article).. "В призывах к оральному сексу к компании Хабби/Зубби/Жамми теперь прибавляется Федди... " Heh-heh-heh. Markov 08-09-2004, 04:59 PM Wow...they sound really mad in their discussions (after article).. "В призывах к оральному сексу к компании Хабби/Зубби/Жамми теперь прибавляется Федди... " Heh-heh-heh. :lol That made me laugh. Anyway, who will be left on the roster? It seems every other day someone is declining to go. Jussi 08-09-2004, 06:04 PM IMO, Datsyuk should start above Yashin especially with more open ice in the tournament...I am a little biased though. What open ice? It's NHL sized rinks, ie. 26 meters wide. The European rinks might be a little wider, though. The Hartwall Arena rink might be 28 meters, not sure it can be made narrower. Oz 08-09-2004, 06:18 PM I'm very excited about seeing Ovechkin and Kovalchuk play in the pre-tourney game against the US here in Columbus. Since the game doesn't mean anything besides practice, how much ice time do you think Ovechkin will get? Also, Zherdev has said in a few interviews that he would gladly play for the team if he gets the call. Jason MacIsaac 08-09-2004, 06:20 PM I'm very excited about seeing Ovechkin and Kovalchuk play in the pre-tourney game against the US here in Columbus. Since the game doesn't mean anything besides practice, how much ice time do you think Ovechkin will get? Also, Zherdev has said in a few interviews that he would gladly play for the team if he gets the call. If I were at their camp I would want to see Kovalchuk and Ovechkin together and compare their skill sets. Ovehkin may even have a better wrist shot then Kovalchuk. Zine 08-09-2004, 08:26 PM Seems like the roster is constantly changing. So as of now, far those who won't play or are injured are: G Khabibulin G Nabokov D Malakhov D D. Markov D Zubov F Mogilny F Zhamnov F Fedorov F Bure F S. Kozlov * Zhitnik is now listed on the roster at NHL.com Tretiak 08-09-2004, 08:43 PM http://www.tsn.ca/world_cup_hockey/news_story.asp?ID=94237&hubName=world_cup_hockey Russian lineup a work in progress Canadian Press 8/9/2004 It's anybody's guess who'll show up for Russia's World Cup of Hockey training camp. Alexei Zhitnik is the latest NHL star to indicate he probably won't be in Kloten, Switzerland, a week Thursday. palsoft 08-10-2004, 04:16 AM Seems like the roster is constantly changing. Kozlov * Zhitnik is now listed on the roster at NHL.com That's pretty many players so far. So there's only one goalie at this time on roster? TORRUS 08-10-2004, 05:25 AM That's pretty many players so far. So there's only one goalie at this time on roster? No, two - Bryzgalov and Sokolov. I still think that Fedorov will be there. The same thing was before the Olympics. thome_26 08-10-2004, 06:33 AM I put that article through a translator and it did say that Federov was a no go - although it was very unclear exactly why and if it was for sure or who confirmed it or what not because of the poor translation. IMO Yashin could lead the team to a good showing as the number one center. Jason MacIsaac 08-10-2004, 07:47 AM Get Suglobov for the team!!!!!! hehe TORRUS 08-10-2004, 08:34 AM I think that Tyutin could be a good replacement if any of Russian defencemans decide to decline! TOGLIATTI 08-10-2004, 08:55 AM Seems like the roster is constantly changing. So as of now, far those who won't play or are injured are: G Khabibulin G Nabokov D Malakhov D D. Markov D Zubov F Mogilny F Zhamnov F Fedorov F Bure F S. Kozlov * Zhitnik is now listed on the roster at NHL.com Fedorov is on the roster as well at NHL.com TOGLIATTI 08-10-2004, 09:03 AM I think Vitaly Vishnevski from Anahiem will do well for the team. He is still a little rough on the edges, but he will be a big physical presence. He can play big minutes, and is a good skater. wilka91* 08-11-2004, 01:41 PM this team sucks. no one wants to play ... oh well, we'll see how the young players can do against NHLers Tretiak 08-11-2004, 04:45 PM Fedorov just officially dropped out: :shakehead http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=94467&hubName= 1991 08-11-2004, 04:50 PM That's another major blow to this team... Pull Russia out of the tournament, and put in Ukraine! ;) Thresher 08-11-2004, 05:04 PM "...goalie Evgeni Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks is said to be unfit after arthroscopic knee surgery." numerous other sources have said Nabokov is expected to recover in time for the World Cup of Hockey...so, I wouldn't count him out just yet...then again, with so many backing away from the apparently discombobulated (dis)organization that is Team Russia...Nabokov may not want to man the crease eh, who knows tbr 08-11-2004, 05:11 PM Does anyone think they would give Sergei Brylin a look. The guy does have three cups and can play where ever they need him. It would be nice to see him get recognized. TORRUS 08-11-2004, 07:36 PM Team sucks. Obviously players don't care much about this tournament. If nothing it will be a big experience for the young players who are the future of Russian hockey. It's totaly f..... up! Since it got so far it wouldn't harm much to put Zherdev, Tyutin, Kondratiev, Semin, Mozyakin and others in. At least we know they would give 150 % Rob 08-11-2004, 09:29 PM My question is, do Russian hockey fans care much about this tournament? Will it be televised back in Russia? Buya89 08-11-2004, 10:57 PM My question is, do Russian hockey fans care much about this tournament? Will it be televised back in Russia? OFCORSE WE CARE. In Russia the 2 most popular sports are hockey and soccer. But since our superstars are too good to represent our country you dont see alot of enthusiasm from fans :( deathbear 08-12-2004, 12:55 AM if pavel bure was healthy, you know he'd play. Buya89 08-12-2004, 12:16 PM if pavel bure was healthy, you know he'd play. Although people might have critisized him for being selfish watever.... He was always a big patriot and came up huge in world cup/olympics... Great competitor. Great Player... TOGLIATTI 08-12-2004, 12:36 PM None of the older Russians want to play for the corrupt hockey federation. They left to get away from all that. I bet they would have if Larionov was the head of the team. But he wont even have anything to do with them. It's all a mess. Chaos and mass hysteria. Need to clean house. If winning were the top priority for the Russians, this would not happen. Its all politics. Zherdev should already be on the team. His battle with the RIHF is a mess. Anyway, once NHL players were allowed to play in the Olympics, the World Cup became a joke. Look at all the players not playing for the other countrys. thrill_me_mogilny 08-16-2004, 11:36 PM I agree Togliatti. If Tikhonov were fired(right...) or couldn't coach due to some illness/accident, I bet Fedorov's aches and pains would heal in time for the WC! In a way I'm glad that the Russians are not fielding a full team of NHLers. These guys will be playing for jobs, and it's a great chance for non-Russians to see players we never get to see. Simagin 08-18-2004, 12:39 PM Zherdev ?????????????????? http://www.metallurg.ru/news/12104/ Alfons 08-19-2004, 02:17 PM What about this possible line up. what do you think? Samsonov Yashin Kovalev Kovalchuk Kozlov Kvasha Ovechkin Datsyuk Zherdev/Frolov Zubrus Chubarov Kovalenko Gonchar Kasparaitis Markov Kalinin Volchenkov Vishnevski Bryzgalov/Nabokov Buya89 08-19-2004, 06:56 PM LETS GO RUSSIA!!!!!!! we might not strike fear w/out bure, but i bet if russians get chemistry they'd be hard to play against. Look at their team everyone but yashin/afanosenkov is extremely good skater, so we got speed and scoring touch... now we need goalie... grit... strategy and defensive D!!!!! hehe Vic Rattlehead 08-19-2004, 07:21 PM The Russians are still talented at the left side on offence... Zine 08-20-2004, 02:55 AM I'd like to see these lines Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Kvasha Kovalev - Yashin - Afinogenov Samsonov - Kozlov - Frolov Zubrus - Chubarov - Kovalenko Gonchar - Kasparaitis Kalinin - Markov Volchenkov - Vishnevski Gainey23 08-20-2004, 01:31 PM as disappointed as i am about Zhamnov not being on the squad, i'm still looking forward to seeing this team... kids like Zherdev and Chistov are blackballed off this squad because they are unfairly painted as 'deserters.' still, looking forward to seeing guys like Kalinin, Afanasankov, (and obviously great anticipation for Ovechkin). also curious to see how well Kovalenko performs.. hard to believe i'd be saying this years later, having grown up on CCCP dominance, but Team Russia would have to be considered a sleeper/darkhorse to win it all. Proffessor G DIDDY 08-21-2004, 08:01 AM I think if the Russians work hard in their own end and convert from counterattacks they can win. They got a lot of talent in offense but their defense will be key. Another thing is that their coach must spread the experience throughout the lineup some of these need a veteran player on their player to rely on that being said here's my team: Samsonov - Datsyuk - Kovalev Kovalchuk - Yashin - Ovechkin Chubarov - Kozlov - Zubrus Afinogenov - Petrov - Kovalenko Afanasenkov - Kvasha - Frolov Gonchar - Volchenkov Tverdovsky - Kalinin Kasparaitus - Vishnevski Khanavo - Markov Bryzgalov - Sokolov - Fomichev Obviously Nabokov will be number one if he's health. Where are players like Antropov, Brylin, Nikolshin, Malakhov, Markov and Bure. Russia would be a lot more competitve with their full team, what happened ??? brian 08-21-2004, 10:03 AM Antropov is a Kazakh and has played for them in the past. Unlike Nabokov, Antropov doesn't want to play for Russia and considers himself a Kazakh. He could have played for Russia at this World Cup if he wanted to, but not in an IIHF sanctioned tournament. Buya89 08-22-2004, 04:26 PM We dont need Antropov.... why would we, Kvasha could easily replace his size or yashin. | ||
