At least he had humor about his mistakes during the game. I remember a few times he was found kidding around about how he couldn't make out plays like he used to. Great guy. I'll miss him. :( Any Mets fan will... :( xander 08-04-2004, 12:33 AM It's like a peice of my childhood is gone. How many countless summer nights I did spent listening to the met game and watching the sun go down. Rest in Peace Murph. Rest in Peace Murph. Sigh. klingsor 08-04-2004, 04:45 AM RIP, Murph. Always a nice listen. Didn't appear to have a mean bone in his body. kazo 08-04-2004, 07:59 AM When I was a kid living in CT circa 1960, I was an Orioles fan when Murph did their games. I used to be able to catch their games on the radio at night and I can remember him doing the Hamms's beer commercials. "Brewed on the shores......of the Cheasapeake Bay." Funny how things like that stick in your mind. Thanks for the memories, Murph. Jackson Ranger 08-04-2004, 09:13 AM RIP Bob. You, Linday Nelson and Ralph Kiner will always be part of one my greatest memories, the 1969 Championship team. My deepest condolences to the Murphy family.
