OT: NHL2k5 Preview

Wow this game looks sick. I see in the preview it has the might ducks farm team. I cant wait to call up some wolfpack players like Giroux, Ulmer, Cuthbert, Weller.

Id take him over Purinton. At least id be willing to give him a look. He plays a simple game. He can play LW too.

In a video game you can put Purinton on your 1st line and score 75 goals with him...

Jeez, just leave the guy alone. Video games can be cool, and some of the hockey ones are. They've got a new farm system, the dude's excited, leave him be, its ridiculous.

In a video game 5 years ago maybe. Before you make a comment like that it might be a good idea to look into the kind of products that are available today. This game, NHL2K5, is about as realistic a sports simulation anyone has ever seen. If you can score 75 goals with Purinton in it you should become a professional NHL 2K5 player.

you can pretty much trade anybody for anybody in a game. As soon as i get a new hockey game, i always make this trade with ottawa and they always take it.

if they don't take it, then i add someone else to the trade like purinton, nedved, or a draft pick

when i used to play games, i would always custom create all the players from the farm system (Holmqvist, Brendl, Lundmark, etc) and trade all my roster for picks/prospects. In 3-4 years, i had a dynasty.

This game just looks great. I didn't like 2k3 at all. And I just didn't play 2k4. But wow.

Hmm...I tried this with NHL EHM and it was a no-go. Tried adding a second round pick as well but they were having none of it. Guess Poti isn't such a hot commodity after all :)

Looking forward to seeing ESPN NHL2k5, the video looked promising although you could pick out a lot of things if you wanted to be nitpicky :D

He probably had the fighting slider all the way up, so he could demonstrate the fighting engine. Btw, how does everyone feel about fighting in hockey video games? Would you prefer it to be realistic with lots of glutching and grabbing and not many punched thrown or would prefer a more arcade approach where you basically have to knock the other guy out? I'd say the latter is good when you're playing against another human.

The rest of the game should be realistic except for the crazy fighting.

Glad everyone has positive comments here. I have been pushing the 2k series on this board every year since 2k2 came out, and glad to see the popularity increasing. 2k5 definitely looks poised to win over EA diehards once and for all, I mean you get a great hockey game for $20.00. Yes for those who didn't know already all ESPN sport games will be $20.00 this year, and smart move by the SEGA-Take Two marketing partnership. So all those who buy EA every year would be fools not to plop 20 down and try out the competition (which has been far superior the past few years, except football, but it's close this year NFL2k5 is great).

Go to the site, go to the boards, buy the game, and let's all have some fun. Online leagues will be awesome this year. Especially with real time stats, and the ability to check out standings and statistics right here online on the web at anytime...

Is there a PC version of NHL 2k5?? I don't have a PS2 or XBox and not willing to dish out the $$ for one of those systems.

Well just like in real life Chara becomes Injury prone the second he wears a Rangers Jersey and Hossa losses his scoring touch. Lindros becomes the Lindros of old in Ottawa and Poti learns how to play defense.

I think they should have bench clearing brawls in the fighting when your playing a huge rival like Rangers vs Fishsticks! Now that would be awesome.

Well at least not every time your playing a huge rival but once a yr maybe one yr you have one and then have another one maybe in 3 yrs to mix it up. And when this happens they should have suspensions handed out.
