What does anybody know about Vladimir Svacina? What kind of player is he? Physical?

I helped place Vladimir Svacina with the Ice Dogs, so I might be able to shed some light on him.

He isn't too big at 5'10" / 170 lbs. But as is the case with many Czechs/Slovaks he has tremendous balance and strength in his stride.

Vlad played last season in the Czech Republic with HC Sareza Ostrava. He split his time between the Midget Extraliga team and the Junior Extraliga team.

Stats:
Midget: 21/24+25=49/24 PIM, +16
Junior: 28/8+8=16/6 PIM, -2

He was named the Czech Midget Extraliga MVP in 2002-03. In 03-04 he spent just over half of the season playing as a 16 year old in the Junior Extraliga with the majority of the players being 19 and 20, and for a 16 year old, put up very good numbers for the limited ice time that he saw. He was simply too good for the Midget team after putting up 24 goals in only 21 games.

He has excellent hands and a very good vision on the ice, both with and without the puck. He can spot players through traffic and has a nice touch on his passes and can also beat out a defenceman in a foot race to an open spot.

I think he will be a very good addition to the Ice Dogs roster.
