Hypothetical CBJ-NJ trade

Let me put out this disclaimer -- I don't think NJ would do this, but I'm curious if it could be worked out, and wanted some input, so bear with me.

Jaroslav Spacek for Collin White?

I know something would be needed from the CBJ to even it out, but what? Or is this just impossible?
From CBJ perspective, Spacek is their only expendable player with any value. They have several similar players though and could use a White-type guy.
He's a late bloomer, but has good PP and offensive ability. Last season was marred by a few nagging injuries, but otherwise, he's been the CBJ's best dman the last few years (for what that is worth).
From NJ perspective, well, like I said, I'm not sure NJ would do it. I know White is inconsistent, but NJ seems low on his type of player as well. Spacek could be an affordable repalcement for Nieder (assuming he is gone), not that anyone could ever completely replace him.

Could this be a base for something? I'd like to hear your take.

I'd say its impossible. Colin White was our only physical defenseman the second half of the year. Can't afford to lose him right now.

I like Spacek, but we can't give up White right now.

Love to get him but will never happen plus we need White and some more defensemans on the Devils... They are slim in that position...

Exactly. Trading White and potentially not having Stevens would leave New Jersey with a very, very soft defence core.

I figured as much. While my trade might've helped ease the potential loss of Nieder, it would only create more holes by taking White (plus Stevens' eventual retirement). Thanks for the feedback though.
I'd love to see Columbus get White (or a White-like player). I really think that is what they need on their d.
