Remember Me???

I finally got my computer back after only 6 months. Anyway, just in time for the Draft.

I was very happy that Nieder won the Norris, but I kind of felt that there was a hint of good-bye in his speech. Especially when he mentioned Don Meehan.

Of course I want Nieder back, but since I don't think it will happen, here is a trade I have been toying with:

To Chicago: Nieder, Pandolfo, Ryznar or Chvatal or DeMarchi, and our #1 pick.
To New Jersey: Berard, Mike Brodeur and their #1 pick, plus the option to switch #1s in the next two years. Gives us a very slim chance to get Sidney Crosby. But worth a shot if the Hawks will go for it.

Also, I want Lou to sign a veteran sniper to play with Zach Parise. I propose Brett Hull or Peter Bondra, just for one season. Will give Suglobov, Pihlman, etc. time to develop.

Between Grant Marshall and Turner Stevenson, I would sign Marshall because he wants to play in Jersey. If you don't want to play for the Devils, Lou can find you another team to get a paycheck from, assuming there is a season come October.

I would qualify Friesen--hey, after the Gomez line, no one scored, and he was crucial in us winning the Cup two years ago. I would also keep Kozlov and give him a chance to learn our system in training camp. He can play all three forward positions and he has no value anyway.

Next thing I would do is bring in Sandy McCarthy, who I have always considered to be a poor man's Randy McKay. He will give us size, toughness, and he works his butt off when his skates hit the ice.

Let Corey Schwab go and sign Wade Flaherty.

Now please forgive me, but I would let Sarge go only if we can bring Brian Rolston back to NJ. If not, Brylin remains a career Devil.

If there is a 2004-05 season, this is what our lineup could look like:

Elias--Gomez--Gionta
Friesen--Parise--Hull or Bondra
Madden<-->Hrdina--Langenbrunner
Brylin or Rolston<-->Rasmussen--Marshall
Kozlov and McCarthy

Rafalski--Cam Barker
Martin--White
Berard--Hale
Sean Brown and/or Scott Stevens????????????

Brodeur
Ahonen

Scott Stevens' health is a major issue. I would tinker with the team assuming Stevens will never play again. If he can resume his career, it immediately puts us back in Cup contention; not like we don't have a chance with this roster. Lou may want to consider signing Bob Boughner if he is 100% certain that the Captain will not return.

If Nieder stays, he keeps the "C." If he goes, Madden is our new Captain. Do you agree?

Good to be back. :handclap: Later... :)

Why would NJ trade for its own goalie? I personally don't think we have enough money to sign a new face like Hull. Some money has to be spent on Scotty Gomez who is sure to get a raise. Both Marshal and Stevenson want to play for NJ but Marshal is more durable. Hard to let go of Turner though. I'll sign Friesen if he takes a paycut. Though its between him and Kozlov and I don't think we saw what Kozlov can really do. Could trade Friesen to SJ (fans still love him there). No point in bringing back Rolston when we have Madden, who I am almost sure is coming back. My lineup:

Elias-Gomez-Gionta
Friesen-Parise-Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Madden-Kozlov(could work, he's good defensively)
Brylin-Rasmussen-Marshal

I believe Stevens will be healthy enough to play next season. If not I wouldn't mind seeing Jason Smith back with the Devils (Smith for Ahonen straight up)
With Stevens:
Hale-Stevens
Niedermayer-Martin
White-Rafalski

With out Stevens:
Niedermayer-Martin
Hale-Smith
Rafalski-White

I don't think we need a veteran sniper to play with Parise. Friesen has the best shot on the Devils. Langs and Friesen are both good defensively, like Parise, and relatively physical. Langs and Friesen work well together, and both prefer to play opposite wings.

The lineup I'm hoping for:

Elias-Gomez-Gionta
Friesen-Parise-Langs
Pandolfo-Madden-Brylin
Rasmussen-Hrdina-Stevenson/Marshall/Whomever

Stevens-Rafalski
Niedermayer-White
Martin-Hale

Brodeur
Ahonen

Extra Forwards (in order): Vrana, Foster, Suglobov, Pihlman, Voros
Extra Defensemen: Brown, Albelin (he's stated he wants 1 more year), Giroux, DeMarchi

I just heard that Turner won't be giving any discounts. He had a heck of a season, but he is so injury-prone, I rather keep Marshall and sign Sandy McCarthy. Marshall was also good with Elias and Gomez if you remember. Just in case Gionta gets hurt, Marshall can fill in on that line. Also, one more knee injury and Turner will be slower than Ken Daneyko in slush. I love Dano by the way. I kid, I kid. ;)

I want Rolston for the PP, not the PK. He still has that shot that we could use from the point. Also, I would like to see us be the fastest team in the league. That is why I would hate to see Niedermayer leave. Rolston can still fly. And by the way, if Madden is ever injured, Rolston can step right in on that line. He is not as good, nor as intense as Mad Dog, but I always liked him. Miss his bangs. lol But he brought Claude back and we won another Cup, so I can't falt Lou. It was the right move at the time.

If we have the money and Hull wants to play here, why not? And Gomez does deserve his money. Hope we get ownership with a big pocketbook!!!

And wouldn't it be cool to have two goalies named Brodeur? Heard Mike Brodeur is pretty good. Never know until he plays in the NHL. I've seen no-names make it and first-rounders flop, literally and figuratively. Just look at Jamie Storr. And Jimmy "Not Worth The" Waite.

Good to have you back Nieder27......

Good points to all your statements, but i dont wanna trade nieder he is the future Captain of this team......I think this is what we should look like next season

I would send Pando packing and ship him up to boston for draft picks, as long as we sign Rolston....

Elias-Gomez-Gionta
Kozlov-Parise-Friesen
Langs-Madden-Rolston
Rasmussen/Malhotra(if avalible)-Hrdina-Mcarthy/Marshall/Mckensie/Simon (Preferably Simon)

Rafalski-Hale
Capt Nieds-Martin (Played well in the playoffs as top D-Men)
White-Berard/Pronger (If Stevens isnt here we need Prongs...)

Broduer
How Bout Brathwaite to back him up...(Now that the BJackets got Irbe, why not go out and get Freddy)

Yes they do, Jason. I think Nieder will end up with Vancouver, so how about signing Scotty and trading him for Eddie Jo? I think that the Canucks will overspend for Niedermayer, so Lou will have to match and then make the deal. Or, if he have the money, maybe Norris Niedermayer will hang out here for the rest of his career. If he'll only sign for one year, we have to trade him, as much as that will break my heart.

BTW, who owns the Devils? "Owns. Owns." Does anyone get the "Slap Shot" reference???

Thanks for the kind words, Tbg1515.

Welcome back Nieder27! Nice to see you here again.

As for the trades, I don't know. I don't see Chicago giving up their best trading chip (Berard), their second best trading chip (Their #1 this year) and their third best trading chip (Their #1 next year) for our best player and some spare parts.

Realistically, that trade doesn't happen. I guess the Hawks are pushing hard at acquiring Washington's top pick this year and are still looking towards rebuilding instead of adding a guy like Niedermayer and having nobody around him to help out.

I can, Doug Gilmour was involved in a 10 player deal in 92 between the Leafs and Flames!

02-Jan-92: Toronto Maple Leafs traded Craig Berube, Alexander Godynyuk, Gary Leeman, Michel Petit and Jeff Reese to the Calgary Flames for Doug Gilmour, Jamie Macoun, Ric Nattress, Rick Wamsley and Kent Manderville.

So it does happen, just not very often.

Why would they give up anything of substantial value for Niedermayer when they can get him after 2004-05 for maybe draft compensation? He has made it known that he really likes Vancouver. In the Devils Media Guide, Vancouver is listed as his favorite NHL city, and it is almost the closest to his home in Cranbrook, B.C. (Calgary is a little closer.)

I thought of maybe trading him to Calgary for Robyn Regehr on the condition Niedermayer can be signed to a long-term contract, but Calgary is probably too cash-strapped to make such a deal.

I will be pleasantly surprised if Scott Niedermayer is playing for the New Jersey Devils after next season.

Well done. But Marty is no Denis Hamel. Is Marty allergic to the fans? Makes him puke. Ugh. lol The air, the air. lol

I know that trade with Chicago will never happen, but it is fun to play with. The players are like Monopoly money. I know there are not that many big trades, but they do happen, like Lindros to Philly and the Toronto-Calgary deal. Don't forget about Luc Robitaille, Ray Ferraro, Mattias Norstrom, and Ian Laperriere for Jari Kurri, Shane Churla, Marty McSorley and Nathan Lafayette (Has he arrived yet? lol).

Tbg1515 is a fun read. Kind of like Stan Fishler. Sometimes I take him seriously and other times I don't. His mega-player trades are creative, to say the least. Just don't like it when he includes free agents. Has to do more research. But he does come up with some interesting line combos.

Jason, is English your second language? :joker: I kid. I kid. Like Triumph The Insult Dog. ;)

I can take a joke, just not one from a wise ass. Hey, I didn't have my computer for six months, but I have been going to Devils games since 1982. Kenny Daneyko bought me beers at a bar we used to hang out at. Cool guy. Just thought he drank because he is Canadian. lol Never thought he had a problem.

Craig Wolanin invited me to his table to have dinner but I was waiting for a friend while he was waiting for his girlfriend. He was so nice and appreciated the fact that I was a Devils fan and that I really knew the game.

I take my Devils seriously, but I can take a joke. If I'm a little edgy, it may be because I have been running a fever for a few days. Also, I am very upset about the beheading of these hostages. Poor, little South Korean guy. It f-ing pisses me off.

But I do prefer certain posters over others. If that makes me a jerk, so be it Blutarsky. :) You are on double-secret probation aren't you? lol I never applied to Faber. Are you are graduate?

Jason, I take you seriously. I think you bring a lot to the table. I respect your opinions and your research is usually pretty accurate. You are always informative. Regarding your spelling, I am just trying to be constructive. Since you are in college, you have to work on making sure you spell words correctly. This is a good forum to practice in. You are an intelligent guy. If you misspell simple words, it is not a good reflection on your capabilities. When you go out into the real world for a job, you need to be able to write well. You don't need to be a professional writer but you may need to write a simple letter without any mistakes. Do you have a resume? If not, you should start working on one and get some professional help to make it look as good as possible. You need to use good paper and format it so that it reads well and reflects your skills to their utmost.

I have gotten on Tbg1515 for misspelling the names of our players. He used to screw up on Petr Sykora's name all the time. And he never spells Tommy Albelin's name right. Now he is more aware of detail. He is a diehard Devil's fan who goes to every game. I have met him and he is a really nice guy. But when he spells the player's names correctly, it makes him look much more intelligent. He knows the game; trust me. It may not always come across in his posts, but when you speak to him, he has a keen insight into the game. I know that he posts the first thing that comes to mind and doesn't take his time to think things out. When he slows down, his posts are a better reflection of his hockey intelligence.

Even when I post something that is frivilous, I try to make sure that it doesn't come across as stupid. I rather be intentionally funny than unintentionally funny!

I hope I have been of some help. I respect everyone who posts here because they are true Devils' fans. But when I see simple mistakes, it just bugs me because I know they are smart but they don't take the time to write well. I write professionally and if I send out something with spelling errors, I know it will be rejected. More importantly, I make certain that my grammar is perfect. I don't hold non-writers up to my standards. But I am always impressed when I see something well-written, as do prospective employers.

I worked as a medical transcriber at a cardiologists' office. You wouldn't believe how bad the grammar of some of these doctors was. Even when they spoke, they sounded like idiots! They may have been good doctors, but they sounded like morons. Would you want someone who sounded like a moron to make medical decisions on you? I think not.

I have made my point. Take care!!! :)

Jason, you know enough to capitalize the "D" in Devils and that grammatically it is seriously and not "serious." Just slow down, man. If you are going to University, you are smart enough not to be making these simple mistakes.

Just trying to help you out. This is constructive criticism. I am not putting you down. Everyone makes mistakes. We are all only human. I know you meant to capitalize the "D" in Devils. I see lots of posts all over the Internet with simple errors. I get the message but it reflects better on the person's comments when there aren't simple errors. This applies to everyone, including myself.
