Frolov 6'3 06-19-2004, 08:38 AM Both Sampe and rangers had 6 votes. Just 15 votes is bit poor because I notice so many soccer fans here. Please vote (again) for who you think has the best team, so we have a winner. Thanks in advance.

Trendsetter 06-19-2004, 08:57 AM neither Romario, Ronaldo, Carlos nor Nesta can be considered all time greats
I-HK slightly better central midfield
RBK better defence, wingplay and attack
RBK>I-HK by a pretty wide margin

Sampe 06-19-2004, 03:27 PM neither Romario, Ronaldo, Carlos nor Nesta can be considered all time greats
And why is that? :amazed:
Ronaldo is arguably a top 5 talent ever, the 3rd best goal scorer in World Cup history and has a better strike rate than Marco van Basten - or just about any other player in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s for that matter.
Romario has scored close to a thousand goals during his career and was the greatest player of the 1994 World Cup. His strike rate for Brazil is even better than Ronaldo's!
Roberto Carlos I can understand...but there are *very* few players who have managed to cover and dominate the entire left flank the way he can. He's pretty darn fast and virtually tireless. An absolutely vital part of my tactic.
Nesta is the greatest defender in the world since Paolo Maldini.
helicecopter 06-19-2004, 05:57 PM Why Pimpin fo a livin's team is no more there?
Since it looks it is no more in the process, those who voted for it can vote again choosing between the two left teams?

Yes
Predatore 06-22-2004, 05:31 AM hehe, this one is close.. :)
FearTheFlyers 06-22-2004, 10:27 AM In the end, it all comes down to the keepa.

Yeah, Jean-Marie was a stud, I agree.
Belgian Fan 06-22-2004, 11:12 AM Frolov, if I may be critical, you should've made this a public poll given the history of this stuff.
Anyway, I still think Rosenborg's the best team of the lot.
I-HK certainly is very good (on talent it could be equal or even better) but I'm not a big fan of flankless teams. Even though I know R Carlos will provide some offense from the left back, it's still not the same as having a guy like Riva on that spot.

Yeah I know, it has been a long day.
FearTheFlyers 06-22-2004, 03:41 PM Yeah, Jean-Marie was a stud, I agree.
Lev Yashin is the best goalie ever.

Too defensive as well....Booo!
Strizzi 06-22-2004, 04:12 PM I just like how well the positions are distributed in the Rosenborg squad. As we can see again at the Euro, a lot depends on if a team works together well. And with RBK, I don't see the problem that two or more players would take the other's space away, or that all the play would go through the middle or something like this. Just well balanced. :handclap:

I agree. Just look at the Danish team and how they use the wings. When you have good wingers all you need is somebody to give them the ball and they`re off. Grønkjær comletely owned Nilsson today and the same can be said about C Ronaldo owning Raul Bravo in the Spain - Portugal game...
DutchLeafsfan 06-22-2004, 04:19 PM ...or Arjen Robben vs the Czech Republic. While playing with not to great wings can be completely ineffecitve (see Holland-Germany), playing with excellent wingers who have speed, skills and a good cross can be extremely effective and dangerous.
Sampe 06-23-2004, 01:38 AM But then again, if you have R.Carlos and Ronaldo on the left and Beckenbauer, Meazza (an "inside-right forward" in his prime) and Carey (by far the most versatile player on my team) on the right... ;)

Hey I voted for you ;)
Still, a team with wings can also work very well :)

Garrincha vs Carlos... :D

Yeah I know, it has been a long day.
Lol yeah, I had an exam (Handels-Economisch en Financieel recht - geef toe, klinkt geleerd) yesterday so I do have an excuse :)
1 down, three to go!
Sampe 06-23-2004, 07:57 AM Garrincha vs Carlos... :D
Oh I know...but luckily for me, Garrincha is not as interested in actually winning the game as he is in humiliating Carlos!
Frolov 6'3 06-25-2004, 07:07 AM Well, this poll is closed and Sampe's I-HK has won. :win: Congrats Sampe and well done !! I want to thank everybody for his or her collaboration.

Woah...Nice! :amazed:
And thanks. Well, I want to thank all those who voted for I-HK and congratulate rangers and Pimpin for creating amazing teams and giving me competition...not to forget the rest of the participants in our 'little' draft either; all the lineups were very close in the end.
But most of all, this draft was fun *and* educating! It was cool to be a part of it.
Now, where's the Oscar/Nobel when you have a speech ready... :naughty:
