Report: McGrady wants out of Orlando (http://www.tsn.ca/nba/news_story.asp?id=88144)
Not really surprised by this too much. It wasn't a metter of if, but a matter of when.
Ajacied 06-19-2004, 03:52 AM Of all top teams, the Spurs have the most money to spend, that and Tracy is a good friend of Tim Duncan. I just don't know whether Tracy prefers to win above being the man, cause he won't be the man in SA. Anyhow, a top 5 of..
CN - Rasho Nesterovic
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - Tracy McGrady
SG - Manu Ginobili
PG - Tony Parker
-----------------------
# 6 - Bruce Bowen
# 7 - Hedo Turkoglu
# 8 - Malik Rose
# 9 - Robert Horry
#10 - Charley Ward
.. would be quite spectacular..

Judging by what happened with Toronto, I think Tracy will choose being the man...

You're right TMac in SA would be great for them. He would give them the dynamic player they are missing. BUT I think that the Spurs is exact type of situation McGrady doesn't want to go to. He wants to play in a place where he is the man and the offense revolves around him. I think its more likely he will end up in LA.

Last I heard bout all this...around 2 weeks ago...is that Orlando would want Ginobili n a trade for TMac. I say NO DICE!!
Psycho Papa Joe 06-19-2004, 12:51 PM Okay here goes.
Vince Carter, Donyell Marshall and a 1st (8th overall) for Tracy McGrady and Drew Gooden
Cato-Francis for TMac-Juwan Howard.

nordique 06-19-2004, 06:37 PM They should send his complaining self to Atlanta or the Clippers.

Is that a joke?
Because I don't know what to say.
:amazed:
(and I'm being honest)

Regardless, the top 5 would be intact.. Had to add some depth, but yeah, most of them need to be traded in order to create salary room.
PEli* 06-20-2004, 09:30 AM LA's quick fix will be to throw a ton of money at McGrady. He'll be a Laker, if anything.

Explain?
leafaholix* 06-20-2004, 11:27 AM Explain?
Were you joking... or was it a serious idea?
It could have been a joke considering you're trading Carter for McGrady... after the whole situation.

I'm serious. Orlando was interested in Carter a couple of years ago since he's from the area, and they may see him as a marketable player in Orlando. Better to get something that you can sell to your fans, than lose McGrady for nothing. In addition, I always liked McGrady more than Carter from a Raps perspective and wouldn't mind seeing him back in TO if he's interested.
Do you think it's not fair value for either team?

ridiculous
tmac is a top 5 player, carter is deteriorating...... drew gooden was a #4 pick and has done nothing to hurt his status, meanwhile you propose to trade carter who is now garbage really for tmac, then swap a former #4 pick that is legit for a undrafted #8 and marshall to balance that?
who are you kidding

I hate this trade from a TO perspective.
Yes, McGrady is better than Vince, but we had him here and he didn't like it. He's not coming back.
Gooden is a solid starter, a guy that will put up 15 and 7 in my opinion, but did you relaize we have a franchise player in Chris Bosh at powerforward?
And we give up Donyell Marshall, who put up 16 and 11 in a TO uniform, and the 8th overall pick, a pick that this franchise needs to draft a point or a center?
Great deal for TO. :shakehead

LMAO, Carter is grabage? Um, ok...
Drew Gooden was a former 4th overall pick. And you point is? So was Donyell Marshall.
ap215 06-21-2004, 09:45 AM Word has it today that the rockets are the front runners for Mcgrady and they are close to a deal which they'll send Steve Francis to the Magic for Mcgrady.

Rumor---Macgrady and Howard for Francis, Cato, and Mobley. Trade pending on if other players involved in this trade doesn't get selected in the draft.
