Insted of trading our top prospect in Parise, I would trade the players who r not
playing like we accepted.

I would trade players like Kozlov,Hale,Friesan,Giroux, Maybe Herdina, Foster

I would trade like this

Kozlov,Hale,1st rd 2004

For a top 4 draft pick in 2004

Any other Ideas?????????

Kozlov is worth a bucket of bacon grease right now, Hale is just a nice prospect, nothing exceptional, on our 1st round pick is in the 20's. I'd do it in a heartbeat to move up but I don't think we'll find any takers. But it is a good thought. ;)

Here's my stance on all of the Hale deals - no.

Hale is our best defensive d-man prospect in recent memory. He began to look really good as the seasons progressed and I thought he looked pretty solid in the one game he played against Philadelphia in the postseason, he was a +1 and his hits were all good (if a couple were slightly illegal.) Hale is one of those players who I don't want to see dealt unless we know we are winning the deal and it means success now, because he is going to be a big part of the future.

Also, if the top-4 pick is third, I might consider it for Barker. But only for Barker. Otherwise, trade to between 7-10 and pick Thelen.

I'm not sold on Hale as I was at the beginning of the season, but that might be because of two-fold: I have never been patient with young defensive dman (which is probably a fault of mine) and I might have gotten spoiled by Paul Martin's play. The thing that concerned and surprised me was his sometimes unwillingness to use his body and plus his offensive game was hardly anything at all. Hopefully that'll change because the one thing I do love about him is his character.

That's great from our end, but other teams are not going to give us much in return for a pile of players who they know did not perform as expected.

At this point, Foster is still high risk/high reward so I would keep him. With the continued injury problems, I doubt we would get more than a 3rd rounder for him anyway.

I'm with you. I think trading Hale would be a huge mistake. He is exactly the type of defenseman we are going to need to replace Stevens. We don't have many big, strong and physical players currently on the blueline, or coming up through the system. DeMarchi could be a good #5-6 guy, but he isin't close to being ready yet.

Now that Hale has a year under his belt, his play next season should be a lot better. He seemed a little tentative at times and wasn't as physical as I thought he was going to be this year, but he had just came out of college, and maybe he was a little intimidated. He has all the tools be a rock on the Devils blueline for years to come. It may just take a little time to happen. We've got to be patient with him.

I don't think Hale gets the credit he deserves. Paul Martin was years ahead of himself. Compared to Martin, Hale looks like a flop. However, Hale has probably progressed beyond what we expected he would this year.

Agreed.

Could possibly get you an 8-12 pick, but no higher.

Hale was also out for most of the 2002-2003 season with the kidney disorder. He was adjusting to the NHL and shaking off the rust all at one time last year. I keep him and let him develop.

Why the hell would you trade a defensmen who had only played 60 or so games and played damn good in many of those games. Why would you trade the apparent heir of Stevens according to Lou and Conte, two of the best hockey minds to ever manage an organization. Hale will not be traded now, enough with the foolish trade ideas.

Why do the Devils want to give up roster guys for a player that wouldn't even make the team next year? The Devils aren't rebuilding.

Why not just trade some magic beans for a top four pick? That seems a little grounded in reality.
