I will agree that the Riders have a better chance at winning the Grey Cup now, but not because of the reason you mentioned.

From an Eskimo fan, trust me, you're now far better off without Greene.

Greene looked very good from what I saw. But yes, IMO as well, we're better off with smilin' Hank. Greene's biggest asset is the run game, while Burris has the rocket arm. Now we've got the rocket arm, and the amazing run game, all without Greene's inconsistancy. Add that with a good core of receivers(and that's without Dominguez, who still may return), a strong Canadian full-back, one of, if not the, best offensive lines, and a top-ranked defense, and possibly the best kicker in the West, and you've got a huge Grey Cup conteder.

GO RIDERS!

The ship hasn't sailed yet. I still like the Eskimos to come out of the West this year (and hopefully win the Cup) because we're stacked at receiver, we have a capable QB (even after losing Ray), a future HOF RB in Pringle, and probably the tallest defensive line in the league today. And our O-line ain't too shabby either.

Of course, there's still the possibility of your Riders coming out of the East (I love the crossover, don't you?) :)

If Montreal and Flory are tops in the East, there's nothing I'd like to do more than beat the Als in the playoffs.

With Dickenson out for the start of the season, and the Bombers on the decline, the Riders and Esks are going to go 1-2 in the West, IMO. Should make for some exciting football come November.

Yeah, as much as the Eskimos are hated for various reasons, I think the Als are the single most despised team in the CFL recently. Part of it has to do with Don Matthews being coach, a lot of it has to do with the incredible cockiness that the entire team has, from players to coaching staff, and the way their receivers act on the field. One would think they would get overconfident and lose more, but the competition in the East has quite simply been weak these past few seasons, although this season Toronto and Ottawa have far better lineups. So who knows? Maybe the Als won't even make the playoffs? :)

Yeah, the Bombers have been on the decline every since they failed to win that Cup two years back. BC I wouldn't count out yet, because DD should be back soon. I wouldn't mind a 1-2 finish for our teams though. It's just I would have it as the Esks being first. ;)
