I would say...maybe.
It's not terrible, it somewhat makes sense for both teams. The only thing i really don't like from the Devils side is losing David Hale. I think its just too early to give up on him.
Not a bad offer though.

Morris > Hale based on talent.
Johnson > Friesen based on similar talent and Friesen's salary.
The picks are somewhat irrelevent at that point.

Yea, they'd probably want a prospect or something coming back their way

I like the look of it. The picks are kind of useless though. Morris would be a nice addition to the blueline and could help right now.

I think a more simple proposal could involve Tanabe or Ference (most likely Ference). Phoenix already has a couple other right handed D (Morris/Hulse). Tanabe always seems to kill us, but is young and affordable which is up Phoenix's alley. Ference seemed to have problems sticking in their lineup, and he's more in the Colin White mold.
Don't see why'd they want to deal Morris so soon unless they can't handle his salary. And in that case, they certainly wouldn't want Friesen at his current price tag.

We know (or I think I heard) that Lamoriello attempted to acquire Morris, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see him come to the Devils at some point. I like the deal too, though I don't like giving up Hale even at this point. I also don't think Pheonix wouldn't be too willing to do this anyway.

Haven't we done this before -- trade away a great defenseman when he is 22 or 23 years old and then watch the guy become a top-two defenseman? Morris would be a great pickup, but let's unload some of our forwards before we start throwing away our young defensemen.

The trade does look good but Hale has not even begun to show is potenial as a NHL defensive defence man. Good oung defence men are hard to come by, why trade them away? :dunno:

I like that trade and especially Lou not going to resign Friesen and to make a trade now while the Devils still have his rights, it would be nice to get something in return than nothing at all when Friesen is gone for good come July 1st...

Horrible deal for Phoenix.
