What was the story with him as a Devil. Lou traded for him, but he was only here a few weeks (if that long) before getting dealt again. I never remember hearing why that was such a short relationship.

He went against team policies and rules and therefore he was traded... 4check22 06-14-2004, 12:37 PM He went against team policies and rules and therefore he was traded...Was he traded? I thought that Lou just cut him. He was absolutely worthless in Jersey. As I recall, the Rangers picked him up soon after his stay with the Devils. Hellsempire 06-14-2004, 12:37 PM Was he traded? Yes he was traded I do believe and do not remember who we got for him... Hellsempire 06-14-2004, 12:41 PM Actually Tikkanen was sent to Vancouver then moved onto Florida and then finished his career with washington in the 1998-99 season...He was a NYR before he came to the Devils. :) 4check22 06-14-2004, 12:41 PM Yes he was traded I do believe and do not remember who we got for him...I found it . . . here (http://www.rngrfan.com/archives/1997/trades.html). He went to Vancouver, but I can't remember who we got for him either. Hellsempire 06-14-2004, 12:44 PM I found it . . . here (http://www.rngrfan.com/archives/1997/trades.html). He went to Vancouver, but I can't remember who we got for him either. Read the post above the one you put in and you will see that I said he went to Vancouver than Florida and ended his career in Washington in the 98-99 season... ;) I also cannot remember who the Devils received for Tikkanen in that trade... :dunno: I think it was a draft pick... Brodeur 06-14-2004, 12:51 PM I believe we gave up a 3rd rounder to St. Louis to get Tikkanen, then managed to get a 2nd rounder from Vancouver. Looks like we used that pick to select Josh DeWolf. Fantastic. Lamoriello is king. Too bad we wasted it on DeWolf. I think it's funny when I hear people refer to Tikkanen as a former Devil. 4check22 06-14-2004, 09:55 PM I think it's funny when I hear people refer to Tikkanen as a former Devil.Kinda like saying Comrie is a former Flyer. David Puddy 06-15-2004, 04:43 AM I wish we still had Ville ... The Devils never had Ville Nieminen. The Devils traded their 3rd Round Pick in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft to St. Louis. Ville Nieminen is a cowardly version of Grant Marshall. Marshall isn't as dirty as Vile, and Grant will drop the gloves and fight like a man, once even getting a KO against Tie Domi. He came and left in minutes ! Deron Quint was acquired as a depth player late in the 1999-2000 season. Obtained: 3/7/00 from Phoenix with a 3rd Round 2001 Draft Pick (later transfered to PHO - Beat Schiess Foster) for Lyle Odelein Dealt:6/12/00 Rights transferred to Columbus with Krystof Oliwa for 3rd Round 2001 Draft Pick (Brandon Nolan) and future considerations (6/23/00 - Turner Stevenson) The Devils had Stevens, Daneyko, Rafalski, Vladimir Malakhov and Colin White playing in almost everyone of the 23 playoff games. Niedermayer played in 22 games, and Brad Bombardir played in his only game at that point. ddnow2000 06-16-2004, 07:38 AM I recall that Quint was suspended by mgmt. almost as soon as they got him !! :dunno: BigBully4 06-16-2004, 09:08 AM Deron Quint was banished from the Devils after he had shown up to practice drunk off his ass. This is fact. ddnow2000 06-16-2004, 01:44 PM Thanks, I'm getting old but some things stick around in the brain. I thought that he might have asked for a second medical opinion on something ! David Puddy 06-16-2004, 03:26 PM I looked it up, Quint was suspended for the remainder of the season for disciplinary on March 24, the day after Ftorek was fired. MattNJD 06-16-2004, 07:45 PM I looked it up, Quint was suspended for the remainder of the season for disciplinary on March 24, the day after Ftorek was fired. Yea I remember hearing a rumor that he came to practice either drunk or too hung over to skate, but never heard an "official" confirmation. *side note: He scored a goal in his fist game as a Devil. 007 06-17-2004, 12:08 PM If you're wondering what has become of Esa, there were reports in the Finnish press that he had come to New York to talk to the Rangers about a coaching position. I suppose it never panned out, because he then claimed $1 million from them for sending him to the minors and not allowing him to seek an independent third opinion on an injury. From what I read, he had a good case, and was expected to win, but I haven't read anything since. Sorry, I don't remember where I read the story. | ||
