Fish on The Sand 06-08-2004, 08:52 PM I mean this is nuts. They only have about a 40% save rate, and they blew not 1, but 2 saves today in the same game. They have one of the top rotations, and one of the better offences.(best in obp). Yet, the team is 5 games under .500 because there bullpen sucks. They could be winning the division, and rather easily I might add, if their bullpen wasnt so ghastly. Its literally getting to the point where anything short of a complete game from the starter means a loss.

3rd fewest hits allowed, fewest among staffs with 300+ ip
Offense

3rd in walks
6th in runs
6th in hits
5th in doubles
As you can see, they have a top 3 rotation, and a top 5 offense. Last time I checked, teams like that win division titles as long as there bullpen is even close to average, but in clevelands case, their pen is worse than just plain bad. the stats I'm about to show you are some of the most disgusting stats you will see.
dead last in majors in era(5.94) 5.94 wtf is that. 5 point ****ing 94!!!!!!!!!!
7 for 20 in save oppurtunities. 7 of 20. That is beyond bad, that is downright disgusting. 35% wtf is that, 35%. There are numerous players with higher batting averages
11-17 record. Atrocious
last in hr allowed. in fact, they have allowed 14 more than the next closest staff
first in hits against, 20 more than next closes, in 10 fewer ip
most losses
last in runs, 32 more than next closest staff
stats i cant find: baa I am 100% sure they also rank dead last in that category as well.
ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the goat of the year, the Cleveland Indians bullpen. Theya re so bad, they take a team who is playing at a high enough level to win their division and make them look average to bad. I would like to know of any other previous bullpens that were this bad, if there are any. I mean these stats are so horrifying that they have to be historic.

stats are misleading, teams playing above their class will start to go to form around now

The tribes rotation isnt playing over their heads though. Sabathia is doing as expected, as is Lee. On offense, Hafner is probably playing a notch or 2 higher than expected, as is Belliard, but by the same token, Escobar and Broussard are playing considerably worse than expected, so even if Belliard and hafner come down to earth, you can expect Escobar and Broussard to pick it up a little. Basically, your reasoning for your unacceptance of the tribes starting and hitting success is but their the Indians, despite the stats prove you wrong.

Glavine-Leiter-Tracshel is not a bad 1-2-3
Matt Ginter has been very solid too.. but I cant expect him to keep that up.

Glavine-Leiter-Trax is a very good 1-2-3 but aside from Looper, Moreno who's now on the DL and Bottalico, that is it.. everyone else is just crap
not even close to being the best pitching staff in baseball, I bet there is atleast on pitcher on 20 other teams that i'd rather have over everyone on this staff
