Ward has been tremendous, and he has continued it tonight. Hit for the cycle going 4-5, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 3 runs, 1 BB. He's now batting .380 with 6 HR and 16 RBI in only 11 games.

Has he been great or what?

To put it to a comparison, Raul Mondesi, the guy he replaced on the roster, hit .283 with 2 homers and 14 RBIs in 26 games.

Ward always had alot of talent. The problem was he never was able to put it together. As a former Tiger i hope he continues success.

Rob Mackowiak, Pirates, had a helluva a day, so far. To begin the day, his first child, a son was born this morning. In the first game of a double header, he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs to win the game for the Bucco's.

Then, in the second game, he hits a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. What a day for this guy.

Daryle never played for Detroit, that was his dad Gary Ward I think

hes been a great addition hopefully he can keep his weight under control and keep hitting the ball well

He didn't play a pro game for the Tigers, but was drafted by them and played in the minors. He was part of one of the Detroit/Houston trades.

Tigers sure lost this deal....

Lima started his professional baseball career in the Tigers farm system in 1990. However, he along with catcher Brad Ausmus, and pitchers Trevor Miller, C.J. Nikowski and Daryle Ward were traded to the Astros for pitchers Todd Jones, and Doug Brocail, shortstop Orlando Miller and centerfielder Brian Hunter last December.

wow....that was a bit of a crappy trade

I know they said Daryle and Gary were the only father/son pair to hit for the cycle and that Gary did it as a tiger I think

Did anyone else read this "Dwayne Ward hits for the cycle" ???

I guess I'm the only one still reveling in the Jays glory years of 92-93.

He and his dad also became the first father son pair to hit for the cycle in the major leagues. That'll be one of baseball's most exclusive clubs for a looooong time to come.
