Was September 11th? Or were they talking about somebody else. I could have sworn they were talking about Tortorella. Pretty classless and wrong if they were.
Did ESPN just say Torts first day on the job...Patrick 05-25-2004, 07:10 PM Was September 11th? Or were they talking about somebody else. I could have sworn they were talking about Tortorella. I believe the first training camp he ever presided over came a day or two after 9/11 but he had already been coach of the Lightning for the last half of the season prior to that after Ludzik was canned. -Pete Choquette TB_FANATIC 05-26-2004, 02:06 AM ..amongst some of the other flaws; what caught my ear the most...was that we are currently playing the Flyers..and not the Flames :shakehead Dropkick Alex 05-26-2004, 06:09 AM Was September 11th? I mean if he picked up the job on September 11, the day that our lifes changed, what would be so wrong? Patrick 05-26-2004, 06:29 AM Because it's wrong. It seems like ESPN needed something to fill up some space and they knew that most people wouldn't know. If ESPN just got some wrong information then that wouldn't surprise me though. The reason why it's classless is that they are using Sept. 11th as a filler, not to mention making up quotes from Tortorella. Yup, they were using a tragedy in order to make up some melodramatic story, and that's wrong. I believe they were doing the fitness testing or something on that day, I remember reading about it in the paper. It was Torts' first training camp, not his first day on the job.
