Possible players who have fallen out of favor or lost their roles that we should lok at acquiring:

Eric Belanger
Denis Arkhipov
Radim Vrbata
Denis Gauthier
Brent Sopel
Niko Kapanen
Stanislav Chistov
Jani Rita
Jiri Fischer
Taylor Pyatt
Tim Connoly
Kristian Huselius
Eric Brewer
Tyler Arnason

Can you think of other players that may be available that would be worth trading for?

edited to add more potential trade targets

Just pipe dreaming here, but isn't Spezza supposed to be "out of favor" in some degree?

Chistov and Rita

Gauthier would be nice.

What about Tyler Arnason? Having your coach take a swing at you in a bar usually mean's your not in the organization's favor.

Spezza was "out of favor" with Jaques Martin, who is toast. Muckler is a big Spezza supporter.

If we could get Arnason I'd love it, but I heard those rumors are as real as puff the magic dragon.

How about Richard Matvichuk??? He would help our d abit. I also like Rita as well. And maybe Huseluis. Maybe a guy like Jokinen who was rumored to be out of Florida. I like Gauthier and maybe a guy like Ruutu from Canucks. Sather liked him in the past and is a pest. He is good at drawing power plays for the nucks. Tim Connoly and Taylor Pyatt id take a chance on.

Just curious, whom would you give up for all these players? Where is there room for Matvichuk on our D? There is only room for him if you are willing to sacrifice one of the yutes.

One player to think about is Tyler Arnason (sp?). I read an article this weekend that said that it is a bad sign for him that the 'Hawks choose to bring back their coach. THe article claims that him and the coach are on the outs. If he is obtainable, do we have enough (w/o giving up the farm or the #6 pick) to get him? He is young and certainly has top 2 line potential.

I heard of a possible deal with Eric Brewer possibly this Summer as Edmonton knows they can't sign him to a big $$ long term contract. Possibly Lundmark as the starting foundation to a trade ...

Most of these guys are retreads or has beens. For the most part, the reason they have fallen out of favor with their current teams is because they stink.

first of all i think thats silly giving up a first round especially 6 overall, not actually silly just wouldnt ever happen, he is a second line center with skilll without a doubt. would take him for a b level prospect and a second rounder or maybe even 2 of our second rounds and a prospect for arnason and a 3rd rounder.couple names u listed i would make an attempt to get would be...
- pyatt- he is a big kid hasnt lived up to his name yet, but maybe nyr would be the place, give him some time with a skilled vet centerman, like who i dont know, u never know what nyr is gonna do.

- huselius- can score. 2nd line ,even first line lw

- rita - excellent prospect could become a top second line lw

those 3 names because they are left wings....higher on huseliusthan the other 2.

couple other names would be: niko kapanen could be a second line center, would rather get arnason instead.

there is a need for centers in the organization. on defense gauthier wouldnt be a bad choicebut niether would cullimore or matvichuk or maybe klemm, doubt cullimore will leave tampa. i know i wouldnt. not to sure what kind of player gauthier is, i know he is tuff and is big, but how is his play on the ice. is he a smart player good defensively, if he plays a smart d game of hockey than ofcourse with his size he would be a no brainer to get..not to big on any of the other names.

The way I heard was Sutter physically challanged Arnason because of his indifferent play and lack of effort. He was able to pick up his play after that confrontation.

Knowing Brian Sutter's coaching style it's hard to say what Arnason's current standing is with the Hawks.

Stanislav Chistov seems like the quintessential prospect-that-original-team-has-lost-patience-with. I simply think that they have unrealistic expectations of his timeline. I would LOVE to get him as I think he's ready to put it all together and break out. I'd ask about him and see what they want. If all they want is a 3rd round pick or something like that, I jump all over it. I thought about it and came up with an offer like this:

NYR get: 8th pick in the first round, Anaheim's 3rd round pick, Stan Chistov
Anaheim gets: 6th pick in the first round, one of our later 2nd rounders

Too much? Too little?

Sounds fair, but I don't think we need so many small players, we already got Dawes, Prucha, Hollweg, and Marek

yeah, we already have Dawes, Prucha, and Hollweg, but none of those players are near the NHL level yet. Any of them may make it. Realistically, we can only really expect one to become an NHL regular. Chistov already is an NHL regular, or at least he's very close to it if he isn't yet. I don't think he steps on any toes if we get him. Realistically, Prucha is a year away at best. Dawes is probably two years away and is a long-shot anyway. I don't know much about Hollweg, but isn't he kind of a marginal prospect?
