Saskatoon Blades Make A Gm and Head coach Move tTo The Pastflamesfan01800 05-22-2004, 10:27 AM Lorne Molleken is the new Head Coach and GM http://www.whl.ca/headlines/?id=2089 talentscout 05-24-2004, 10:39 AM Jovo Cop 05-25-2004, 10:33 AM The Blades picked up Clark Gillies nephew in the bantam draft ....hes supposed to be a beauty .How do you like those Blades 3rd jerseys ???? Round John 05-25-2004, 04:40 PM I don't know what to think when a teams 3rd jersey uni, is better than their everyday uni. Get rid of the mutant combine logo and make the 3rd jersey the regular logo. In case you can't tell I really like the 3rd jersey, the colors, the logo. By far one of the better ones in the league, the team finally got one right with it. Jovo Cop 05-25-2004, 05:18 PM I too like the 3rd jersey ..but i agree that combine with the snarling snow plow blade has to go..what was wrong with the traditional uni ..the pac man logo and colors ?????I always liked that one especially when Wendel was wearing it . goteam 05-27-2004, 11:34 PM I am very excited to see Lorne Molleken back in the fold. I believe that through his leadership---players such as Joe Barnes, Wacey Rabbit, and Bjorn Svensson will not underachieve again this year and the team will return to the 30-40 win range next year. I'm also very excited to see that the Blades have named Chad Mercier as the associate coach. This guy was labelled by many to have been a potential head coach in many WHL centres. Round John 05-31-2004, 12:43 PM There is a lot of buzz in town around the team and lots of talk and a great deal of excitement. Apparently ticket sales are going well, who'd a thunk it after the disasterous season just past? I think all Blades fans need to be realistic with their expectations for next season. A playoff spot is definately attainable, I would guess about 30-33 wins. When anyone looks at the East Division stats for 03-04 one must consider PA, Bran, MJ, and Regina all played games against an absolutely terrible Saskatoon team skewing the numbers pretty badly. I would hate to see how any of the East Division teams would have done against the Central last season. So while some may crow about Curtis Hunt's record last year remember he got to pad his numbers, as did everyone in the East Division, against a very weak sister in the Saskatoon Blades. I look for a breakout year from Setoguchi and Svensson. A return to form for Keller, and a superstar year from Green. Hopefully Barnes and Rabbitt can get their games back on track. Molleken is one of the best teachers and motivators in the dub, and with his being GM as well he holds the hammer with the players there will be no going over the coaches head to a higher power, and no in fighting among different groups of players on the team. | ||
